Mencken
I've been playing for a couple of weeks so I'm a relative newbie. I have the materials to make a life giving amulet (just found out they could be crafted, oops) having died once and finding one in a grave. How do you use it? If you carry it in your main traveling inventory it gets used up, correct? So do you put it in your backpack and how can I fight and carry my back pack at the same time? Wherever it is do you need to click it to activate it? I want it solely for resurrection purposes having died once (and my 2nd portal isn't stocked for an emergency yet). I watched a few youtube videos and read some queries from Google all the say is put it in the chest slot? What is the chest slot? A chest at your base? I need to get this right or I'll die, lol. Thanks!! Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/72671-completely-confused-about-life-giving-amulet/ Share on other sites
Developer ImDaMisterL Posted December 20, 2016 Developer Share Posted December 20, 2016 The chest slot is the slot you put your backpack and armor in to equip it. It must be there, equipped like an armor, for it to be activated. Now if I put the amulet there doesn't it get used up? If it doesn't is it automatically activated when I die? And thanks for answering so quickly! The getting used up is another function, see, when your health bar isn't full, the amulet will convert hunger into health. Hmm, so wearing it uses it up (how used up does it have to get before it doesn't work to resurrect?) and not wearing it means you die. The only fail-safe I can think of then is wearing two at the same time when you anticipate an attack. Thanks. It will only not work if it reaches 0%, I believe, meaning it will break Unless it doesn't actually break, only loses the health-giving function... Majestix
I am not sure, but you might be confused about what "to wear it" means. You cannot "wear two at the same time". The entire bat at the bottom is what you can carry with you, your inventory. There are three special slots at the right end of the bar: your hand, your chest, and your head. The amulet does not get used up when you have it in your inventory. It only degrades if you wear it, i.e. have it in the chest slot. This is also the only place in which it is active, so it will only resurrect you if you wear it at the time of death - not if you just carry it around with you. This makes the resurrection function of the amulet have very little utility, since you cannot wear the amulet and armour at the same time, and usually you will want to wear armour rather than the amulet. Exceptions are if you are about to die not from an enemy, but from other sources, e.g. freeze or starve to death, or if you find yourself without a light source at night, and are about to be killed by Charlie. And just to confirm: when the amulet reaches 0%, it will disappear. SimonL
Chest slot (where your armor/backpack is equipped) is the only way to have the amulet active. While it is active, it will regenerate your health (if you are damaged) at the cost of 5% increments on the amulet. If you happen to die while having the amulet equipped, you'll come back to life. If you have it just in your inventory, it does nothing.
