John's Character Suggestion Thread

Recommended Posts

I tend to procrastinate quite a lot so here I'm going to use this thread to dump my suggestions in. This might be all I draw or there might be more, but this keeps it condensed. If anyone wants to make use of these concepts have at them.

Boomstick feeds on nightmare fuel, without which it feeds on sanity. It is used to shoot gold slugs (% Chance of turning into nugget on hit).
There is also an ignition delay that makes hitting all moving targets, save the very large ones, unfeasible.

Whip deals minor damage in melee. % Chance beast be won becomes ally effect sustained with food. The whip deals extra damage to ethereal beasts.
The Tactical-Chair is a defencive tool that takes damage for you, these can be crafted and used by other players.
She Can't/Hates-to use weapons, but can use any tool as a weapon without effect.

Though slow he can equip his unicycle to ride away, if hit his ride will unequip and drop to the floor.
He provides a passive sanity boost to others.

More than most he does not like being wet, hungry or hurt.

Cheers dudes

"Also like the perks of the first one, not much of the second one."

Wicktor I thought over for a while, I haven't really reflected too hard on Wren Bascom, but with the existing and evolving pet/follower mechanics I think there's room for animal-handler class, I may update that image.

Mayhaps "Fights & Leads Beasts, through Whip & Charm!", "Creator of the Tactical-Chair!" (craftable shield), "Unfazed by Danger!", "Disgusted by Weapons!".

As I mentioned in the first thread on this, utilizing nightmare fuel AND ammunition to fire will be out of place in DST.  It would be better to just make nightmare fuel a component of the ammunition cost in the first place, and the use similar loading mechanics to the spear thrower from DS:SW to handle loading of the ammunition.  I implemented a similar "gun" mechanic already as a WIP mod and released the source.

Both characters also seem to be ranged in some fashion.  I worry about this as ranged combat in DST allows you to avoid damage.  Any ranged damage (even low damage), needs to be clunky or it risks being completely overpowered.  This is likely one of the reasons that we have so few ranged enemies as well.
