Ghosts & Wickerbottom's Books

Hello everyone - a lonnnng while back I made This Post about Wickerbottom's books and ghosts being able to haunt them. It was pretty broken and exploitable. I just came back from a pretty long hiatus from DST and am getting back into the game.

 

It seems to me that ghosts are no longer able to haunt Wickerbottom's books for their effects. I tried haunting an On Tentacles book a good 15-20 times with no results. I wasn't sure if it was just "bad luck" or they removed the feature. Anyone know for sure? - and if so, when this change happened?

Ahh okay cool. I remember in my original post people throwing around some good ideas that you just mentioned (changing the type, or using up durability). But I think "no action" being triggered on haunting is for the best. Thanks Begeesy!!

This was changed forever ago.  Ghosts cant do anything anymore, its so lame!  Can't haunt books, cant make treeguards, cant make ghost armies, NOTHING.  I remember when the DST beta started ghost mechanics as they were/are were just a placeholder until they actually rolled out how the ghost mechanic was supposed to work.  Now its fully launched and ghosts are still the same and even worse than when they started.  So disappointing.

Actually what happened a while ago, is that they were reworked into changing one book into another by haunting them, which was fairly broken. So in the end they just removed haunting books all together.

Well, the ghost armies allowed PvP essentially in PvE. That was a no-no. Also could make colossal lag bombs. That was also a no-no.

 

 

Wait wait wait, they can't make treeguards anymore? What?? Man, I hardly get treeguards normally (Literally I'm on a world that's 200 days old and I've got chests full of logs and have only faced a single treeguard, and yes, they're on normal world generation)

 

They can still change hounds/bees/flowers, if I remember. Maybe something with mushrooms? I forget.

A lot of the ghosts functions were removed because they were being used for griefing.
