l96735063
Tencent said in the propaganda and klei they will develop the Chinese versionHowever, the players have found that they actually steal the Chinese players in the steam directly on the release, the Chinese made their own mod content, and even did not delete the original author's signature Quote Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/70812-did-klei-offer-language-patch-to-tencent-for-its-chinese-edition/#findComment-824843 Share on other sites
Mday
Let me translate 1) Before the Tencent release, there is no offical Chinese version of DST. Some Chinese players of the DST community decided to create their own Chinese language mod. 2) When Tencent announced that they are to bring DST to their perform, They claim that the Chinese version of the game will be originally developed by Tencent and Klei together. 3) Up on the offical Chinese DST release, players find that Tencent has plagiarize the work of the previous Chinese mod. My 2cents: I dont care. I play on steam. JoeW
I posted a bit about this here: Essentially, there was certainly some similarity between the Tencent localization and the mod. I believe about 40% of it was exactly the same. From what I understand, somebody who worked on the mod also worked for the localization service that Tencent hired to translate the game. So, the translations that that person provided overlapped with the mod. It is extremely common for people who work in localization and translation services to be part of game communities in this way. They are a huge part of why there are so many fan made translations out there for DS and DST. In order to avoid issues, Tencent has since has it translated again by different people than those who did it the first time. Scoundreya
This is somewhat random but, is this the reason seemingly over half of the servers at the top of the list (filtered by "most players") on the main branch are all in Chinese with high pings? It's disheartening to look through the server list and see servers I can't even *really* play because the pings are high and there will (very likely) be a language barrier. On the other hand - I have yet to notice any servers in Chinese on the Beta branch. Could anyone please shed some light on this?
