GLAcraft101 Posted July 1, 2016 Share Posted July 1, 2016 Honestly, Klei's nerf on Willow really sucks. She was my all-time favorite character since the beta/early access days. Every character had something unique about them. A trademark. A signature ability. A spark (sorry for the Willow pun). Willow just doesn't have that anymore. It's just really unfair. If they wanted to stop the griefers, it didn't work. Besides, anyone can grief in the game if they just craft a torch. It just made Willow the worst character in the game. Willow really doesn't have any cool perks anymore, aside from the Bernie buff (also, why isn't it spelled Burnie? Lol, sorry for the puns again). By making her lighter craftable, it ruined her uniqueness. No one would craft it anyway, since a torch is way better and easier to craft, but still. Adding durability to her lighter sucks. Klei should remove that, because you can just craft a torch anyway. They should also make her lighter brighter or as bright than the torch so that it would be a more useful perk. Also, making her more prone to fire damage makes the gaining sanity perk pretty useless if you ask me. Klei should buff her so that I won't die by trying to become sane again. Alternatively, I'd be fine if she were immune to overheating instead of immune to fire damage instead. I think I'd much prefer the immunity to fire damage though. Also, increasing her sanity a bit would be nice. Only to about like 130-150, though. Or maybe increasing the range of the gaining sanity while next to fire perk. But I would prefer immunity to fire damage rather than the increased range of the sanity perk. What do you guys think? Any thoughts? Scoobie101 Posted July 1, 2016 Share Posted July 1, 2016 I think it should keep durability and be craft able, but lose durability when Willow cooks on it, or someone else is holding it, but not when Willow is just holding it for light. Infinite campfire with a small radius seems a bit OP. Also, what if she was only immune to SMALL fires? Like flaming stumps, flowers, items on the ground, ect. Cause structures, mobs, trees, berry bushes, saplings, and grass are all large and flammable so if people were still concerned about her burning bases, this would make her still only resistant to flaming bases, not immune (considering almost all of those are components of bases). Also, ANY kind of stat change would bother me, for better or worse. They've been so untouched for so long, it'd feel... dirty. She's got an actual real-life diagnosable mental problem (pyromania, obviously). The 120 max Sanity reflects that, same as for Wigfrid, 'cos she's deluded herself into actually BEING a Viking, and for Webber, who is a horrible amalgamation being who Should Not Be, it's only 100. And as for all the Willow nerfs...y'all know my opinions on that TO DEATH by now. It would be nice for her sanity to go up a bit, though. Maybe to 130. That seems more fair, even though we already have Burnie Bernie. Didn't know about the Wigfrid thing though. Interesting. Right now, Bernie is a joke; especially since nightmares are so easy to defeat. One reason why players may think that nightmares are a threat would be because of how awfully Movement Prediction is handled in Don't Starve Together, causing the majority of players to tank their way out of battles because they don't know they can avoid attacks if they disable it. DS Willow is fine. Currently there is a bug where Fling o' matics freeze her. This is really annoying because she cannot rely on stacks of items dropped on the ground to regain sanity anymore. Not as severely as in the video someone here posted, but I _did_ get cold enough to start losing HP--and all I was doing was trying to harvest a crop. I honestly swapped to playing w/ a controller only because it is SO MUCH EASIER to dodge every and anything that comes at you, and it saves me having to turn off movement prediction. : ) Also, I'm almost afraid that buffing Willow will just get her nerfed again for an equally absurd reason as the first time. The combat is much easier (imo), but the crafting and actually talking to other people in-game is more tedious. But I'm not usually in a huge rush while I'm crafting, so I got used to it. Apchi Posted July 4, 2016 Share Posted July 4, 2016 I agree that Willow is not unique character anymore. I never pick her, cause she's really sucks. Her Zippo - absolutely useless. But, at the same time, all nerfs were good in my opinion. Especially the one, what made Bernie for all players. Now she can help to others and that's awesome! All that is left to do: give her more unique teamplay features. Smth like if she could extinguish burning stuff or idk...
