CHOWDER! Recipe suggestion for low value fish

Recommended Posts

I understand why Klei have nerfed the recipe for seafood gumbo, because it's a high health/san meal and they don't want us to get it so easily; a handful of limpets probably was a bit OP. But now we're left with a weird situation where if you fill the crockpot with low value fish items - crabs/morsels, limpets or mussels - you only get wet goop. And that doesn't make logical sense. In real life, a cauldron of boiled crabs or shellfish is probably one of the oldest and most nutritious meals known to mankind! In the vanilla game/RoG, if you put four of the same item into the crockpot, you will nearly always get something edible, even if it's not as nutritious as the sum of the ingredients. Meatballs, fistful of jam, ratatouille... The only notable exception is with eggs (and wouldn't that fill a nice hole with scrambled eggs or omelette!) but now we have all these small fishy items that are completely wasted when you dump them in the crockpot, and it seems a shame. I suggest a new, low value recipe - fish chowder - which isn't quite as good as eating the items individually, but would be a good way to recycle stale ingredients, just as you might turn stale berries into fistfuls of jam. Good players will soon realise the prudence of keeping these items separate (or saving them for better recipes) but unseasoned players won't feel quite so punished when they dump four freshly caught crabs into the crockpot!

4 milks in the crock pot will also produce wet goop, buuuut... I think anyone who manages to get that much milk and then wastes it like that without making ice cream probably deserves it XD

they nerfed the limpets but buffed the california roll. With 2 limpets and 2 seaweed you can gain 50 hunger 10 sanity and 20 health, it's easy and give more sanity and health points than the most basic recipes. Meat balls give a little more hunger, but not as much sanity and health.

The nerf is on the limpets and the other fishes that also gave meat values.

PS: I thought seafood gumbo already was a chowder

I had, indeed, just noticed that when I played last night. In fact I gained 60 hunger from it! (Could that be a Warly perk?) I will be living on California Rolls indefinitely! :D Those things are saving my life as I'm stuck on a snakeless island in hurricane season (base of choice was spiders or snakes; I'm not hungry but I'm soaked and insane and thinking I may have made the wrong decision since the new roll beats meatballs fins down! At least I have a top hat...)

I still think perfectly good ingredients shouldn't produce wet goop in the pot though (including eggs). It's just contrary to logic. As for chowder, I think it's a bit simpler than seafood gumbo, which tends to contain more varieties of fish, vegetables, spices etc. You could just call the lot of them 'fish stew' - but with food it's all in the name!

He said it as spam though. He also commented "I like chocolate" in another thread unrelated to the subject at all
