Codsworth
Well, I'm a woodie main in the vanilla game, but on the DST he is way too nerfed (in my opinion) so i've been playing wendy, but I miss woodie, so... anyone got any tips for playing woodie? Werebeaver on DST is more of an downside than an perk so I get quite lost playing him :\ Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/61482-tips-to-play-woodie/ Share on other sites
FractalBrot
Woodie really excells at chopping trees with the werebeaver, but yes it does drain your sanity really fast. If you don't want to deal with shadows, make sure your sanity is near full before starting to chop trees. Planting trees close together can help prevent wasting time in werebeaver form to chop the trees as fast as possible. If you're chopping T3 trees, you should be getting back more pinecones worth of sanity than what you spent to chop the trees. The only thing you really need to watch out for is full moons since there's a constant wood meter drain and a small sanity drain on top of the werebeaver sanity drain. Either make sure you're near a lot of trees before full moon starts or you're inside the cave. If you ever have shadows chasing you while chopping trees, make sure they're not about to attack before trying to transform as the transformation takes a while and there's no invincibility like with wolfgangs transformation. Woodie is a nice character for the ability to get excess wood and the ability to have full sanity for very little effort. Codsworth
Yes the sanity stuff with planting trees is really nice, but if you don't use werebeaver to chop trees you don't get really much wood since 1/4 of it you have to eat :\ I will still play him but I think they overnerfed woodie, Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/61482-tips-to-play-woodie/#findComment-702695 Share on other sites
Mday
The way I do things:1) Play with people who know how woodie's werebeaver ability works.2) Plant 100 trees as close together as possible.3) Ask Wicker to force all the small trees to grow into large trees.4) Make sure you have armor/weapon/sanity recovery item in your inventory. Have full sanity/hunger.5) Cut down all trees at once. You will have to turn werebeaver a few times in the process.6) Ask other players to protect you from shadow creature/treeguard while you are in werebeaver form.7) Deal with the sanity issue AFTER all trees are cut. Either battle shadow creature, eat stuff/plant new trees/sleep in tent.8) Clear the rest of the treeguards, or bring them somewhere far and pacify. 8) Get everyone to pick up all the logs.9) Consider burning the stumps for a quick land clearance. 100 large evergreen= 400 logs, which is a little over 2 chests full of log. If done correctly players in the server won't have to worry about logs for a long time. Last time I play Woodie I have some very good teammate who know exactly what I need while I'm in werebeaver form. I do 200+ trees/run during that game. Sivdun
Just cut a lot of wood and craft chests around world and see how people whom freshly joined the game check every single one.Bonus points if you put rot in chests. You can also make signs that will lead people to Dragonfly, swamp or base that doesn't exist.
