Sonar Cero Posted December 11, 2015 Share Posted December 11, 2015 A couple of my friends and I got to talking about what would happen if Together had the Shipwrecked mode and how it would start off. Seeing how it can be difficult to survive, we thought about if islands were based to an individual, say every person had their own island to see how each other would survive though we thought that might be too difficult seeing that if someone dies, it could be an issue to revive the dead player. Though we got to thinking if everyone were on the same island, then resources might run a little on the thin side, but what if the number of players were limited to say four, or possibly increase the size of the islands. Any of these could be possible, and would present new challenges to the table. The boating system for example, what if there were two or three person boats? I though one idea that might be fun is if there was a kayak where if the two people were going different directions with each other that it could alter the path of the boat. The same could also be done if there was a raft or a skiff even. Though these are just some things that I've been thinking about with Shipwrecked. It sounds like it all could be fun, though it might be on the difficult side. Personally I respect a good challenge. What do you guys think? rezecib Posted December 11, 2015 Share Posted December 11, 2015 Hmm, well, the start island is pretty finely-tuned to try to make sure you'll have enough resources to get on the ocean. It would be hard to have one for every player, although it's also a challenge to make the one starting island work for several players joining at once or in succession. It could probably be handled by the resource spawner that currently exists in DST's Endless and Wilderness modes, though. Now the two games are becoming increasingly incompatible with each other, with every update, bugfix and mod becoming harder to apply across all the different versions. It is also breaking up the community and modding efforts. It's very frustrating to see DST making so many valuable improvements and fixes on vanilla gameplay and mechanics, which are then totally absent in Shipwrecked. I don't see SW ever becoming Together compatible if Klei just keeps developing DST as it's own unique branch, instead of merging it back into the core game. CameoAppearance Posted December 11, 2015 Share Posted December 11, 2015 I sort of expect Shipwrecked to come to DST eventually, but by "eventually" I mean ages from now. A year or more. I think Shipwrecked Together would work best if it spawned each player in a different place like DST's Wilderness Mode, because the little islands only really have enough resources to get one person started and they're more isolated from other biomes than most places in the regular game. There could be certain islands or island chains designated as spawn setpieces, maybe with a resource spawner to ensure that if someone spawned there after other players had already visited they wouldn't end up trapped because someone else took all the flint.
