What's the deal with Woodie? Also suggestions.

So I haven't played DST in a while, and when I decided to try it out again I found out Woodie was

playable now. He's my favorite character and I was psyched to play him without the need for a mod. I was pretty disappointed to see the changes made to him, but it was pretty fair considering how strong he'd be in griefing and PvP, but then the full moon came. Basically it started by me just going on the normal tree rampage and I noticed my, for lack of a better term, wood meter going down rapidly. I assumed that it ment I had very little time to chop trees so I let it go down and began starving. I then continued to chop the trees just to stay alive, and by the time night was over I had 0 sanity and eventually transformed back into Woodie.

I had 0 sanity and was being chased by 2 Terrorbeaks (tall and fast nightmare creatures) and had no time to eat green shrooms, pick flowers, or plant pine cones, so I died. I couldn't even regen sanity because they're too fast and have a passive sanity debuff when you get too close. I think there should be something to counteract this huge sanity problem after he transforms back into Woodie. Maybe Lucy provides sanity regen? Maybe a whole new sanity item for him only? I think a flannel could be pretty cool. It could be called Lucky Flannel or something like that. It could give 120 insulation during winter and the sanity regen of a tophat. It'd also be cool if you avoid the fullmoon all together by sleeping?

Tl;dr
I died because 0 sanity and maybe there should be a Woodie specific item for sanity regen or buffs to him in general.

Thoughts or tips?

If you drop a stack of logs on the ground before a full moon transformation and proceed to eat them after, you can revert back to Woodie very quickly, but you still need to occaisionally eat logs during the full moon because your log meter will deplete at an alarming rate even as regular Woodie.

If you transform into a werebeaver without preparation on the night of a full moon it generally takes a toll on your sanity before you are able to eat enough logs to change back.

So basically, I need to eat most, if not all, of the resources I just gathered?

you can do mining during full moon, when you transform back you can use that time to pick the minerals up.

you can go into the forest and chop endlessly logs until morning. when transformed back you can also just pick up the logs or plant pine-cones

if this is too hard for you, then you need to eat your own resources, yes

So basically, I need to eat most, if not all, of the resources I just gathered?

No. every 4 large trees you cut down eat 6 logs. Trust me, with the chopping speed it's well worth it. Never let your log meter below 26 or face consequences. Eat certain thigs to keep it up.

1 living log = 3 hunger, 3 health (don't know the log meter amount)

1 board = 15

1 log = 10

1 twig = 5

1 grass = 1

The above is log meter amount filled unless labeled otherwise.

The changes made to woodie are too harsh and now he is just a boring character with too much chore to keep him "steady".

I agree he is too OP for pvp. But there are other ways they could've done it without making him useless (too much to control).

For example keeping the mechanic of transforming and fixed penalty after transforming back, etc. But giving him less damage (for example only as hard as a spear), when in werebeaver form. And also limiting the werebeaver form time - for example having diminishing log meter points after eating x or y number of logs, twigs, grass, etc (first log will give you 10, second 8, third 5, etc).

This way Woodie would still maintain his original mechanic, which was fun and cool and wouldn't make him too OP for pvp.

Right now, Woodie is useless, NOT fun, boring, rubbish. All the fun is gone from this character.

What do you think?

I also agree that Woodie has too much going on. I'm beginning to feel that bringing old characters from the singleplayer game was a bad idea and it's going to be hard to adjust to and balance. We need new characters which benefit teamwork.

Woodie used to be my favorite character in Don't Starve, but I almost never play him in DST. Managing the beaver form was fun in single player, and whenever I accidentally turned into the Werebeaver it had cool strengths and weaknesses. The Werebeaver just lost all the fun in DST, since I just go insane right away I can't really use it for anything, and have to make sure I stay close to a big patch of trees. Otherwise I just get eaten alive by shadow creatures.
