Lureplant at portal == deathtrap?

Recommended Posts

I have a meat bulb / lure plant right next to the portal. This means that the portal, and a short distance around it, is surrounded by eye plants. Oops!

When respawning it seems that the eye plants get in a couple of hits before the respawn animation has finished and before any players can move, so they die before being able to run out of the eye plant area.

Any suggestions for dealing with this, before I nuke the server and start again?

(I know the game is supposed to be hard, but getting hit multiple times before you can move or take any action when you respawn is a real pain!)

Uh... why don't you just kill the lureplant?

They aren't hard to kill.

Because by the time I respawn and am able to move I've already been hit by the eyeplants enough that I'm one hit away from death, and without weapons/equipment.

I'll see if I can run towards it and get in a hit before I die. Then it should only take another 29 respawns to kill it! :)

No touchstones anywhere?

If all else fails, you can continue to revive and die just to prevent the world from resetting.  Eventually winter will come and the eyeplants will recede.  Huzzah!  Assuming it's mid-spring and default season lengths, it'll only take 6 hours to free yourself from the cycle of suffering and reincarnation.  That's unusually fast by Buddhist standards.

Can eyeplants grow on player skeletons?  Maybe you can build a walkway to safety with your bones.

Is the server public?  Maybe a Wolfgang could survive long enough to escape and liberate the gate.  I'd be willing to give it a try.  Or speed up construction of Wilton's Walkway.  Whatever.

Edit: I see it's private, password protected, and late spring. Hmm..

New Idea:  Since it's late spring, if you perish-sist until summer, maybe it will smolder and spontaneously combust?  Maybe it'll get struck by lightning or frog rain will save you?
