I've seen this sort of talk ruin many games because a few people get bored and raise a ruckus that the game needs to be 'adjusted'. Easy solution; allow for user selected difficulties. This keeps the game the same for those who like it as it is now, and allows those who are bored to get a bit more of a thrill out of the game. Some people are only looking to play Harvest Moon in Don't Starve, others just want to see how far they can push themselves. Unfortunately, forcing out either game-mode on those people would essentially ruin the game for the other group... so... just add in traditional easy (current), normal (a few challenges), hard (resource plants don't move or can die), or extreme (as before, but no revival items, limited supplies, etc).

From the Don't Starves steam page.

Uncompromising Survival & World Exploration:

You guys arguing that the game needs scaled difficulty, or hard core people are ruining it. Or that you should be able to play any sandbox way you want. Are flat out objectively wrong. The game is a survival game, its meant to be hard, its meant to be hardcore, it says this.

If you wanted anything else, you bought the wrong game. The devs should strive to make the game what it is advertised to be.
