I'm tired of killing everyone on NY and San Fran repeatedly, so I'm just going to accept duels from now on.

Rule Set (1): We both spawn as same character (you pick) on either NY or San Fran server (you pick) and we fight with only an axe. (less luck involved)

If you heal you lose.

If you run you lose.

If you pick up any items you lose besides what you need to make an axe you lose.

If you use a torch you lose.

We have until hunger kills us to finish the fight.

Rule Set (2): We both spawn as same character (you pick) on either NY or San Fran server (you pick) and we fight until the death. No rules. (more luck involved).

If you need a little luck I suggest using Rule Set (2).

Post a message here if you would like to duel. Video will be recorded and posted after the fight to youtube (even if I lose).

Both of these rulesets kind of defeat the purpose of proving wolfgang is better than another character, but alright. If I absolutely HAD to pick I'd pick Rule Set #1, so let me know when this is goin' down babe.

Not wanting to get your base destroyed+yourself killed=/=being a new player. Seriously, you can't define a 'veteran' player by whether or not they want to go play in PvP. That basically invalidates anyone who wants to play as someone other than the few powerhouse characters, especially Wendy players. The reason people get tired of those servers/find it not fun is because despite those servers being PvP, that doesn't mean you HAVE to fight each other. The PvP could just be used as a way of saying 'no, don't mess with my stuff' or to combat griefers rather than just running around murdering people for loot. Plus like you said, there aren't any real non-PvP dedicated servers that do well. Probably because vanilla DST isn't grief-proof by any means, and at least with PvP you can kill them to somewhat slow them down.

Also with Woodie, he can hammer things. Meaning he can eat up your chests and fire pit to get wood to eat, and all he has to do at that point is follow you around until nightfall and constantly nom at either you or your campfire if you decide to back off due to low health or some such. Eventually he'll either kill you, or Charlie will do it since you can't keep the fire fueled with him constantly pestering you+the shrinking light would make it difficult to kite the werebeaver and the darkness at the same time. Plus he can single-handedly quickly destroy all your farms+uproot your berries/grass/twigs/icebox leaving you screwed for winter. So staying werebeaver for long isn't needed if he knows where your base is.

I still say wolfgang sucks when you're clearing a server of its players. His sanity drain is terrible. PVP in this game is about maintaining your sanity if you're good at pvp.

Currently, Willow is the best at sanity management since she gets a big bonus from fires.

Even if there are a lot of ghosts, willow + fire + silk hat = no sanity drain or very little.

I guess i just never needed the advantage that wolfgang offers? I don't find him useful in pvp on the official dedicated servers since I don't have much trouble killing people as willow.

Plus the fire staff (best weapon in the game in my opinion) does the least damage to willow from her fire resistance. (stack of blow darts are arguably better)

Lol I'd love to see this fight happen on sanfran XD!!!! If you pick a date please tell me I would love to watch in game or even fight lol! If we make this a community sanfran thing i'm sure i can find a few regulars like local noob, zamato, ghostmin, leo, and etc who'd be willing to fight as well :D? -#2 sanfran survivor Bunny (btw i suck at pvp though lol)

Wolfgang is only as good as the amount of food that is available to him, and the amount of sanity sustaining items you have, and since the amount of food and items is part skill part chance in a  generated world, it differs.

 

To put it in another perspective, if a Wolfgang player has gotten lucky and has managed to find a way to keep sanity sustained and gained a way for good amounts of food, and providing non of the other players have a way to defend themselves, as one expects one to rarely have a staff on them or such other item, then generally Wolfgang will win.

 

Can Wolfgang get rid of a whole server? I'm sure he can.Is it based on luck and skill? Yes. Can they always do it? Heck no, it's down to the player and how lucky they get in finding resources as soon as possible and managing them well.

 

Not to mention, in reality, PVP isn't exactly... Suited for this game. Don't get me wrong, the concept is sound, fighting others in a wilderness for survival just as you would work with others, I like it, but....

You have characters that run at the same speed, most of them can equipped weapons everyone else can, several characters have an advantage other others in terms of strength, several characters are just outright better then other characters. ((I do like Wilson, and I play as him alot, but being the starting character as it were, it's hard to try and not compare him to someone like Wickerbottom, or Wendy, or other characters who are just better overall. Sorry Wilson, but your beard is still glorious))

It feels as if PVP is just... Well, tacked on so people won't complain that there is no pvp. I applaud the team for making a single player game into a multiplayer and doing a fine job at it, but to actually make pvp interesting, alot of work would need to be done, and I don't see that happening. The game is just ill fit to be pvp by it's mechanics. Works well as a concept, sure, just not mechanical wise.

Although I'd want to change the rules as well if you guys want a community fight since everyone has different strengths with different players. If you want to make your own server and go at each other with an axe that's fine but if you want to play on Sanfran you should try the Sanfran experience.

This sounds like a great idea, but who are we going to find to keep track of all of this? Maybe there could someday be a server side infameter where one point is deducted per kill, and one is added per revive. If we were to follow up on this event in the San Fran Survival server I will not be teaming with anyone. :)

Leo said she would being willing to judge ^^ and this will probably only be a one time event on sanfran if it's going to happen :) although I would love for more events to be planned :D I think if we get a date and specific time this could be really fun XD I'm sure it wouldn't be to much trouble to record the points and we could get 2 judges as well to take shifts if needed. I would just really like to know who would be willing to try it and the day/time that works best for everyone :3

Also I got my own rules ok so what if everybody joins the server and has 5 days to survive alone and then ALL players move to portal to participate in a GRAND BATTLE ROYALE FREE FOR ALL SUPREME ! That's pretty much it no rules other than anyone who is not you is your enemy and you can get hit from any angle by angle player from any weapon . Basically just a battle of quick wits and mass chaos and destruction for our great leader Maxwell

1. No your points will not reset if you die. It's only the number of days we are counting. So it would be like if you killed someone at day 22 you'd get +22 points but if you rezed and killed them again they would be at day 1 so it wouldn't really be worth the points. This hopefully will prevent more spawn kills for the tournament.  

 

2. I want there to be a set end time for the tournament so at the start of the 2nd winter the fight will end and we can add up the points. We could also have specific days to tally points to check who is in the lead.

 

3. 10 ten is 10+ points for every 10 days. I misspelled that XD so when the fighting starts everyone should at least have 20+ points by winter

 

4. No there is no prize at the moment I just thought it would be a fun idea. I could try to come up with something but there will be no cash prizes.

 

5. I'm not sure this will happen yet it's just my idea for alpha's and flare's fight but if they agree to it and pick a date i'm sure we can make a list of people willing to join in. I'd also really like to know who would be actually interested in doing something like this as well!!!

That's about 72-74 days in game, more or less 9 hours irl. Not everyone has the time to stay this much in a game.

Also, it will get boring pretty quickly once everyone dies for the first time, because the winner will be way ahead of everyone.

If you really want to stick to this rules, i really suggest you make both the seasons short. Winter will start on day 10 and end on day 20 if you do this.

In my opinion, the best way to do it is to give 10 days for everyone to prepare and then teleport everyone to an arena.

also, another addition to the rules: no disconnecting when you've been put to sleep and are about to be blown up by gunpowder pls

but this would be hard to enforce :(

 

How about we start pvp day 8 or 9 then and it can go till the end of winter or the middle of the next summer? I think flare would enjoy the survival part of sanfran as well which is why I'm doing this. I think he is a great pvp as well as survival player even though I've only seen him stream a couple of times. I think sanfran might be harder as well since you have to focus not only on pvp but winter. Also it is much harder to clear out a server than you would think but some players really enjoy it. So my challenge to flare is to clear out the entire sanfran server if we were to do this >: D he will not only be fighting with great pvpers but a (self proclaimed) pro survivalist (cough). If you don't have the time join in right anyway you can probably join late but it will be tougher for you to get the supplies you may need. We should also give an extra 5 or 6 days to anyone who joins late so not everyone rushes to spawn kill them.

 

Yes I agree that when you are fighting you should not log out for any reason lol (cough... you know who you are....) XD anyway how about we give everyone about 3 to 5 free log outs but after it will start costing points. Also i understand when a computer crashes you have no choice so this is what the freebies are for and i do agree this takes a lot of game play time so you might need a short break. Also if you are found to be misusing your log outs it will be - points :-) I think this sounds fair
