Mac to PC steam playing

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm really sorry for not carefully checking existing threads, but I'm in a huge rush but in just one short hour i am FREE for the rest of the month. FREE and I get paid and no one will bother me and I'm going to game the entire time before my new job starts.

i was going to invite a friend to play don't starve together with me tonight, buy the keys, and send em over.

Can you play mac to pc clients through the purchased steam keys.

Thats all.

Anything else I need to know?

Unfortunately I don't think that's possible. DST doesn't currently support Mac computers.

A PC is a computer, you mean a Windows. For now tho you can't. Mac compatibility is being worked on right now. Also, Munixical, it doesn't work for Mac Clients. As in if your Mac Computer runs the Mac Client then it won't run on just the client. I have a friend who has a Mac that runs Windows and it works.

No, not yet. Saw this on Reddit recently though, hope it helps!

  • You can use bootcamp to create a partition on your hard-drive and install windows on that. If your successful and don't accidently wipe your osx partition, then you have to install apple specific drivers downloaded from bootcamp to get your computer to actually work, steam and the game that is in beta and may not like your hardware.
  • You can install wine on your Mac, install the windows version of steam in wine, then the game that is in beta and may not like your hardware or the fact that its running in wine.

Ah.

Ah shucks, yeah PC = windows, not personal computer for me, so diissapointing. I'm sure they'll sort it out later but specifically the people I wanted to ask are both mac users and I am not one.

Thanks for the rapid response guys, theres no way I can get these peoiple to install partitions and whatnot.

mobile typing sorry

maybe i can find someone else to don't starve together with later

For the time being, you could try to find players here on the forums. There's this sub-forum dedicated to it: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/forum/80-dont-starve-together-beta-server-bulletin/

PS - congrats on the new job, and your free gaming time. Jelly.
