kawaiiwolf
Just got started playing the game and even in it's beta state, been having a blast. It's way more fun with a friend ! But on that note, we made an interesting observation. Food was just too easy to get ! We've played on two worlds now and made a camp near beefalo. Between beefalo poo powering quick veggies in advance farms and the monster meat from a Tier 1 spider nest, we were able to each stay fed past day 4 or 5 with no problems off a crockpot. Running off and forraging outside of camp feels about right, that tenuious struggle between "So hungry" and "What do I do with all these berries !" But working together, it's just not a struggle. I've been thinking about ways to fix it but I'm just not quite sure. Maybe a slight nerf on the re-growth rate for berry bushes or a heavy hit to the ability for fertelizer to speed out crops on a farm ? Maybe a nerf to the meatball recipe to require 1+ meat and 0 monster meat or require no fruit ? We haven't made it far as combat is quite the challenge (and balance in flux) and our playtime limited, but otherwise so far so great ! P.S.: It might be nicer if the "friend indicator" had a little more range to it, or at least the ability to play marco/polo .. but at some point maybe, or in a mod perhaps. -------------------------------- TLDR: Hunger is too easy to manage with two players working cooperatively. xSadoro
Uhmm...It seems that a lot of people are commenting on the ..."where are you" thing... Im not sure how compasses work , when you use them you get one ....uhmmm (idk how to say it in english , sorry) But you get for example North, Northeast , Northwest , South , etc. Idk if this is a reference point or if this is the ACTUAL position , like there is only one north in the map, one south etc , and no matter what you do, how you rotate the camera, this doesnt change, idk that. If so we might have to start using them... And yeah, It comes to a point that you can spend several days in your base, a point where managing your base is your actual thing to do instead of exploring or collecting things... Right? At least thats what happened to me. I suppose RoG is more challenging (never played it), maybe with more giants (I assume they are as difficult as deerclops) things change. TheKingofSquirrels
I think the lack of a friend indicator adds to the realism and challenge of the game. You wouldn´t have a goddamn tracking device in the wild. Fyrjefe
I think you'll learn how to describe and track each other better as you play more. I remember back in the early days of Minecraft, I'd get lost all the time. Eventually, I'd start getting the patterns of the landscape, and directions were easier. Have you made it past several winters and deerclops? Have you done this with 5+ random people on a public server? If yes, you're doing better than 90% of the playerbase. If people aren't good at communicating, then there's lots of inefficiency. If player A has 10 berries and player B has 5 meat but they don't know who has what, then there's no meatballs. Yes, hunger (and everything else) should be easier to manage with multiple people working together. Most of the time though, that's not how it works out. Also, veggie-balls! We naturally fall in lock step when playing together, and in this case food just was not at all a concern for us. I think the lack of a friend indicator adds to the realism and challenge of the game. Ohh, I'm not asking for GPS tracking coordinates really. Just a little better job. There are very often times when my friend is just barely off screen and nothing shows up. It's the kind of thing where, if the view were in first person I'd easily be able to see her. That the view is top down is obscuring that. Maybe the distance indicator is either buggy or inconsistant ? Showing up sometimes at a range of X but not other times when even closer ?
