Kukela
Hi All, I was hoping we could make a server megathread to try to help diagnose performance/rubberbanding/whatever issues with the DST server. I plan to collate all this data once we have enough into something easily digestible. Please post : Your CPU Benchmark rating : http://www.cpubenchmark.net Your RAM Amount and Type : http://www.cpuid.com/ Your upload and download speed : http://www.speedtest.net/ Your location Opinions of people who have connected to your server and their location. Below is my first example: -------------------- Your CPU Intel Core i5-3570K @ 3.40GHz7,164 Your RAM : 16gb DDR3 Your Connection : 15mb down, 0.85mb up Location : Sussex, England. User Experience : "How much rubberbanding or lag are you experiencing?" UK : "None"North America : "Barely any."North America : "Minimal." Have you as the host experienced any performance issues? Zillvr
CPU:Intel Core i7-4790 @ 3.60GHz - Benchmark Rating: 10173 RAM:16GB DDR3 Connection:.89 mbps down / .35mbps (This is the current speed test after I've reached my data quota from my internet plan.) Servers hosted by others:I think for this part of the query we should specify where we are playing from. I am playing from the SouthEastAsia.France - A lot, I had to quit as soon as I got in. But my chat messages appears on chat log after 10-15 seconds. PING: 400-500Korea - Bearable lag, I could do the menial tasks fine but when it comes to combat or precise movement I'm useless. PING: 100-125Quebec, Canada - Just barely bearable lag. PING: 350 Server hosted by me:No lag at all. Hope this helps kukela. I'll check back in after I get more data for the last part (geographical differences). And by the way I think you should include noticeable PING from those servers players join.Wish you luck with all this. MrNaxeros
Hey there. I'd like to provide as much info as I can but sadly I can't get some info about my PC: CPU:AMD Athlon Dual-Core 3GHz RAM:4GB (don't know whether DDR2 or 3) Connection:Download: 14.09Mbps / Upload: 0.90Mbps Servers hosted by others:Location: Middle Europe (no more details will be given about it)Anywhere in the USA, Asia or Australia: Unplayable (250 up to 1000 ping)Western or Eastern Europe: Sort of possible to play (100 - 200 ping)Middle Europe: Playable (100 ping or less) Server hosted by me:Slight lag during rain. I'm sorry for lack of some info but I hope it will be enough. Kukela
That's perfect, thanks. Keep them coming. Although it is worth pointing out for the guy above me : Not providing a passmark rating means I'll just have to find out. And not checking whether it's DDR2 or DDR3 is problematic. I linked a program that will tell you, or you can just take the PC apart. If you can't do either i.e Web Cafe thank you for the information regardless Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/42742-server-performance-megathreadlog-post-stats-and-server-performance/#findComment-556605 Share on other sites

MrNaxeros
Edited op to fix broken link, thanks. it still doesn't work. But that Speccy thing gave me nice info: CPU:AMD Athlon II X2 250 RAM:4,00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 401MHz (5-5-5-18) (so I have DDR2 -_- what a piece of wood am I using?) Pyromailmann
1. I'm the op.2. Yes I did, twice You asked for it, he didn't. Plus I can't find it, an i5-4440 isn't put in the top or bottom 20. So it's somewhere in the middle. imsomony
Posting on behalf of my partner, who is our host on a private server. I hosted once, and his client-UX was the same. Only difference in our specs is the processor.CPU & Rating:AMD FX-6100 @ 4.5GHz (overclocked). In the high-end list, rating of 5,427.(Mine is an Intel Core i5-4570 @ 3.20GHz, rating of 7,073) RAM:8GB DDR3Down / Up Connection:56 Mbps / 6 Mbps(however, this is suspect... an app running at exactly the same time told me 46/4)Location:SF Bay Area, CA, USA(my partner is literally 3 feet away from me)Client UX:Ping of 10-12 at all times. No uncontrolled skating/sliding. However, this was experienced frequently on someone elses server we played over the weekend with 50-60 ping.Rubber-banding/bounce-back occurs every 1-2 minutes for us, more often on the other person's server. Usually while doing one thing continuously, like running on a road back to base.Lag/slow responsiveness occurs continually. For example, stuttering while mining, chopping trees, or picking up items from the ground. On that other public server, I actually froze numerous times while picking up items or opening chests - totally immobile in my action until I WASD-ed out and retried. Exchanging items from my inventory to my head/body/hand slot is immediate on my partner's server, but took 2-3 seconds on the other persons.Anything requiring measured movements, such as kiting in combat, is nearly impossible. I hit my target perhaps 1 out of 5 times, and am hit/damaged myself in the reverse ratio. That was on my partner's server, I didn't even bother trying on the other one.Host UX:No issues aside from random beta-crashes.Additional info: All games/clients run from an SSD, and we're direct-connected to our modem/router, not wireless. We never stream, and have minimal applications running while gaming: Steam (obvs), Avast, DisplayFusion, SpeedFan, and Rainmeter. Kukela
Thank you imsomony for resurrecting this thread I am still very interested in obtaining new data for these purposes. It is interesting to read your input in particular as you suffer from rubber banding and stuttering even with a locally hosted server on powerful machines. The only difference between yours and mine is my CPU being about 2000 points higher on the benchmark and me having twice the ram, but I have hosted for people internationally with far worse internet service with little to none of what you are experiencing. This is the first step towards really accurate diagnosis I believe. Thank you so much for contributing and if possible I will be testing my setup by taking half the ram out and seeing if that contributes with some friends.
