This thread is for the currently WIP William Carter mod

Currently its me, @Dryicefox and @bricksurgeon working on this mod.

 

Any suggestions for stats, powers and how to balance them are welcome at this time.

 

Line suggestions are also welcome too, but not necessarily needed.

Because I am a modding nub when it comes to code, how does one change the characters voice to a custom sound? I was planning to have Will here voiced by a piano.

i dont even know what those file types are

How many Mp3s should I make of random piano noises and how long should they be

2-3 seconds.

I did 5 speech files

3 Deaths

and

3 Hurts

for coraline

But there are ~21 Sounds Speaks for the main characters.

When I get a real accordion, Coraline will have that many.

Also, I don't see why Maxwell would've changed voices. Maybe if the voice were a less sinister harmonium that would make sense.

I was thinking about that when I read piano. He changed A LOT, though. Sharp, pointed features, purple skin.

(Change it to white or I will for the selectscreen and save file of William C.!) If there something to object about this character the skin is it.

The only thing I have a qualm with is the skin because of every other non-monster character being pasty white. Maxwell is purple, but he is ALSO engulfed by them.

Well, I'd say that's just with how he's drawn.

He's obviously aged quite a bit, but mostly just looking more sinister. His skin also isn't purple, just light grey. The outside of his eyes are a slight blueish purple colour. The main difference is becoming more sinister and more old. His hairline receding like spiders fleeing from a torch, his jowls, more defined cheekbones and brows, his forehead wrinkles, and that.

Peoples voices get deeper as they grow older too, Maxwell being in his sixties and William being...well younger then that? Obviously no older then his forties at least. The harmonium is a key instrument, and has a deeper sound then a piano, I'm already using deeper sounding keys for William and only slightly higher ones for pain. Like his voice is cracking.

 

My only other idea for Wills voice is to pitch shift Maxwell's and that doesnt sound very fun. Plus It's been sort of a headcanon for my partner, who inspired me to do this mod. Williams their favorite character.

Like I said I may change it but really when ingame it looks just the same as everyone elses? I've already got to work on making his sleeves non wonky and now his voice, its a "not broke dont fix" kinda thing

Understandable. I'll look into keyshifting it. Just cuz, it sounds fun to me.

Not important because English sucks as a language. >:c

Then = Sequential. I walk to the store, then walk home.

Than = Comparative. I'd rather walk home than walk to the store.

Just saying as a William is a magician it would be interesting if he came with a bunny and a hat :-)

 

Also will william have a magic wand that turns say logs into rocks

And Pigs into Merms

And Vargs into Koalefants

I have some ideas.

 

William starts with a Tophat and some papyrus.  He can "search" most hats for items, from rabbits to sticks to twigs to more valuable stuff.  However, there is a 60% chance you will find nothing, since we know he's a horrible magician.  If you DO find nothing, you will lose 10 sanity.

No I mean like your William 2 mod

He would have a magic hat which has his pet bunny say Whiskers
