Syd
How many days have to wait?About 3 days, I think. As long as it doesn't overheat or freeze and stays in that "hatching" state, you're still doing it right.
Rayze Darr
During the day, move it away from any fires (as you'll probably have a small one leftover when the sun first rises). If it's too close, it'll be red and start sweating. At night, move it back towards the fire. If it's too far away, it'll turn a lighter blue and shiver. After about 3 days (confirmed by myself) of being in the happy state, where it's a normal, deep blue and rocking back and forth merrily, your Smallbird will hatch and, most likely, killed by something before a full day has passed. Rayze Darr
Nothing "eats" it, but it attacks anything that you attack, and it doesn't have very good endurance.

ErKeL
Well, my first 2 attempts were disasters. My favourite pig man betrayed me and ate my first. Then I messed up and ate the second.
Guest Dandytard
I would suggest that if nothing works, One should try laying on the egg during night.

Samuel.Vojtas
where i find this egg?
qwerm
you'll need to go on a trip most likely to find the biome that has tallbirds on it, look for large patches of brick surface; that's where the wild tallbirds nest.As for getting an egg, try to avoid letting them see you take the egg, because they WILL hunt you down, do try to avoid killing them as adult tallbirds DO NOT respawn at this time. A Bad Feeling
To spread the word:To hatch the smallbird: You simply have to maintain it in the hatching state [rocks back and forth and blue colored] for 3(?) full days. During the day you can simply leave it out in the sun, although take care not to drop it near pigs or they'll eat it.At night build a small fire near it, if it starts glowing red, it's too close and will cook, if it's white and shivering, it's too cold and and needs to be closer to the fire. You can pick up the egg and move it anytime. Also, you can't feed it anything as far as I can tell and they fall asleep at night time, so it sort of restricts your adventuring at night time. P.S. I accidentally lost one of my smallbirds to my damn bees while harvesting the bee box,
