Honestly killing animals for food is more dangerous than killing infant plants or cutting off bits of defenseless plants (roots & berries) yet farming characters can pluck berries endlessly and/or plant crops endlessly so long as they do NOT kill the beefolos and pigs they have an infinite supply of fertilizer and just SIT.

I'd much rather have the beefolo respawn as an "infinite" food supply because every time you attack one the herd aggros on you and you risk dying. Get rid of the pendents and the effigies, get me some more dangerous animals with unique defenses, and lets see how long I can survive HUNTING and gathering, or ranching and farming. Also add in something to make sure I'm encouraged to eat BOTH plant and animal products, so I have to take some risks. :)

This bit where cowardly characters hide amongst a protective beefolo herd, gather it's poop, and eat berries forever just seems cheap. In comparison the idea that beefolo re-spawning would make some sort of "easy" button for food makes me laugh. Beefolo with better AI are dangerous, you may get away with hunting them for a while, but it only takes ONE mistake to end your game.
