What is the best way to get beard hair?

I used both touch stones already and need beard hair. I am playing as Wickerbottom in a fairly well developed world. The Caves/Ruins haven't been explored yet though because I died to the cave worms once and to spiders once. Don't wanna go back there without some insurance.

With not with an official beard,(aka wilson's) the only way is to go insane and kill beardlings(rabbits) who have a chance to drop beard hair.

1. Get a chest full of live rabbits ready - ones you don't need to eat. Two chests full is even better.

2. Let your sanity drop below 80.

3. Kill them all. You'll get nightmare fuel, monster meat, and bear hair. Usually killing one full chest of beardlings yields about two beard hair.

4. Restore you sanity.(usually sleep, but as Wickerbottom, good luck with that)

5. Repeat.

 

Be sure to do this BEFORE getting the meat for the effigy. I've had some times where it took 3 or 4 chests full of beardlings to get 4 hair - so it took days of going into and out of sanity to gather it. If you get unlucky like that, the meat will spoil by the time you get the beard hair you need.

yes drops are the same wherever you kill them, but again, you might get nightmare fuel or monster meat.

 

I use a chest because you need so many beardlings set up in order to get 4 beard hair. I only have four to six traps out at once. That's maybe two hairs if you're lucky, sometimes none.

^^^^^^^ This is the best way to do it... but I would recommend stocking up as many rabbits as possible.  Fill chests, fill chester, fill backpacks, etc.  Traps and chests are easy to make, so stock up before you go insane.

 

Also, If you know where some bunnymen are, you can go insane and go kill them as well.  They turn into beardlords which guarantee 2 beard hairs when killed, just a little more risky and rarer way to go about it.

 

It's a pain to go insane whenever you need beard hair, better to get a decent stack in one go at it so you have reserves.
