Summer Worse than Winter!

Been playing this game since it came out back before all the new ways to die.

Besides the giant badger that killed me and my camp on only day 10, Summer has got to be the worst thing added to this game. I know you can bypass it in custom world but why cheat? Point is it's too harsh for what little you have to combat it. Ice doesn't last to summer and if you run out of grass your screwed since it all dies. The parasol and umbrella only last for so long and really you just burn anyway. Nitre is not renewable and few clothes are easy to craft before summer even hits.

 

 Imagine my surprise when jumping into a cave..a dark underground.. away from the sun cave. And I burn there too..WTF?  Why are caves not refuge from heat? Caves are cold! Been in a few.

 

Quick off the top of my head improvements for summer time heat.

 

- Don't make it kill you so fast. It's just heat, doesn't need to melt you in minutes.

- Add more things to cool off -

        ~ Structure that provides shade, made from wood and grass or pig skin, whatever.

        ~ Ice box that doesn't require an hours worth of searching for gears if lucky. One that uses..idk ICE?

        ~ Option to jump in a pond..frogs being the only threat.

       

 - Still rains in summer! Why doesn't it here? Make rain a chance to get around during the day.

 - It's a survival game, yet one thing people need most to survive is water and it's not part of the game other than drowning you when it rains.. Add water!

Usually i would criticize people who complain about summer but to be honest you make a point here. Caves being hot thats a big thing. True it rains a lot and drowns you when you dont need it but not when you need it but the rain i can see respectably cause seasonal stuff. But with caves you make a good point it should be colder in caves.

They added a cold insulation factor AND a heat insulation factor in caves on last update. I've been down there during both winter and summer, and freezing/overheating is really not much of an issue anymore.

Summer is a lot more difficult in the DLC. I breath a sigh of relief when autumn roles around, back in vanilla it was the polar opposite.

I personally like how they added the Summer season, I was getting a tad bored with Winter, and yes, it´s massively more difficult, but I myself like that new and extra hard challenge. Also, you missed mentioning the most frustrating and terrifying thing about Summer, which is the fact that you have to live under the constant fear that all of your stuff might suddenly and randomly burst into flames! And I love that!

Anyway, I agree with some of your points:

- Caves should always be cool and should not include the effects of either overheating or freezing. On one hand, because it doesn´t really make much sense otherwise, and on the other (and this is probably just me) it would motivate me for once to actually explore and make a base in the caves.

- Ponds have to cool you down! Surely it´s logical, right?

- The Ice Box is fine, it´s a really good item, so it shouldn´t be too easy to make. What should definitely be changed is the Ice Cube, in regards of the two pieces of gold that´s required to make it. First of, why do you need gold to tie up piece ice over your head, again, not very logical in my opinion. Second, the fact that it only lasts four days, really isn´t worth wasting that much gold for.

- Structures for shade would be cool. I think the new fire pit feels and looks a bit silly.

- I think it does rain, but it should more often.
