Silentdarkness1
It seems to me like kiting with these new enemies is either impossible or quite difficult. Let's take the Birchguard for example. If you try to chop him down all by himself, he sends out these root tendril things that mess you up like nothing. Having trouble kiting that with the chopping animation and all. And then there's the Birchnutters. I find it very, very hard to kite these buggers, since their attack has a homing capability to it. You can't sidestep it. If you want to talk about a REAL PAIN-IN-THE-ARSE enemy, we can always talk about the baby Moose-goats. They swirl like tornadoes. Then they're kinda dizzy. Then they kick your arse. Silentdarkness1
I'm pretty sure you can just plant nuts to pacify it.Well, sure, but what if you ran into a Birchguard while trying to get any birchnuts at all? Seriously. You can encounter them on Day 1. Burn them. Things are prettier when they burn. Gangstamonkey214
With the birchnutress, summon them and kill the birchnutters until you get the acorn seeds things, then plant them near the Birchnuts to pacify them and turn them into level 1-2 trees so you can chop them down without making more Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/34400-strategies-and-general-opinions-regarding-the-new-enemies/#findComment-447003 Share on other sites
Silentdarkness1
Yeah, but it'd be nice to have another source of living logs, which you do indeed get upon chopping down a Birchguard. Silentdarkness1
You can't kite them in the standard sense of, moving out of the way when the attack animation starts. You'll still get hit every time. Amkar
I mean, here's an idea for the birchguards that would help a little. Instead of using a chopping animation, use a combat animation but the axe do more damage. I'm still convinced they're too hard right now. Silentdarkness1
If the Birchguard had either Birchnutters OR the root attack, that'd be fine. Both? That's ridiculous for an enemy who is way too common for his own good. Nope. You can kite. But timeframe is VERY small.I've discovered this by accident, and so far been practicing, currently i can dodge around 2 of 10 attacks ^^ Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/34400-strategies-and-general-opinions-regarding-the-new-enemies/#findComment-447210 Share on other sites

Zalyn
OMG. I just realized what they remind me of - Ruby Weapon. >_< I hate kiting and fighting too. I prefer to use other means to defeat enemies. I keep meaning to try Wendy and Abigail on the birchnutters, but I got distracted by Webber. I think I'd need a lot of spiders to take down the birchnutters. How are hounds, btw? Because you actually have to chop birchguards, hounds/spiders/beefalo and such are pretty ineffective against it. They will keep attacking birchnutters but won't do anything to the birchguard, and I assume (didn't test it yet) that when you start choping the birchguard you take the aggro of birchnutters, no matter what they were fighting before. Pigmen are the only mobs you can use to take down a birchguard, as they can chop trees.
