But why not just put it next to a fire? I don't think it takes that long to heat up and it's already in the game. Just put those 3 twigs on it and you get literally the same thing.

Getting it to maximum heat is a pain, whereas you can put the stone in an ice box for easy cooling so i figure why doesn't it go the other way to easy heating? Also three twigs doesn't give you maximum heat, that barely gives you enough to keep your toes warm.

Because of moleworms - if one is in the area they will come and take your heatstone.

(although its a good way to attract and kill moleworms while waiting for your stone to heat up)

 

The idea of being able to 'cook' the heatstone to maximum heat isn't a bad idea.

Any recipie using heatstone could return a fully charged Heatstone + Ash

 

But you can also just stand next to the fire with the heatstone in your inventory.

I've never had a serious problem with keeping it warm.
