A little backward?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody else think that the things coming out with the DLC now and the Cave content might have served the game better to be switched around? That we got the DLC for free and had to pay for the caves?

I like the caves. I enjoy them. But they feel much more like an extra than the new things that are coming in April. That stuff feels like a more integral part of the game. After all, you can choose to avoid the caves all together. The stuff that's coming, not so much. You HAVE to deal with new monsters, seasons and plants, after all.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Yeah, but there's not really anything we can do about it now.

Well there is such thing as world settings

I honestly hadn't considered it until you just mentioned it... but now that you did, I totally agree! Don't get me wrong, I love new content in DS any way I can get it... but it does make sense to me that RoG additions could have been part of the vanilla game and caves/ruins offered as DLC.

RoG has more of a "world settings" feel, like the things that have been added could be adjustable and turned on/off through the world selection menu. Similar to how experienced players will set boss monsters to "lots" and resources to "low". Whereas caves and ruins, those are new maps and unique mobs with challenges that force you to approach survival in an entirely different way than above ground.

Ah but once you go into the caves and use the endless spikes and shellmets and snurtle armor, the caves become so important. They are literally a gold mine, and have so much nightmare fuel. If you want power, you can have it.

I guess they are sort of optional, but so much more diversity is added, and it makes a new player want to get good and play more rather than RoG killing them every few days.
