Silentdarkness1
I've recently played on 4 or 5 different worlds, with the beefalo levels at a variety of settings. I've spent hours searching and not found one single beefalo at all. Finally, on one of these worlds, I used the debug command to reveal the map. And on a large world, with beefalo set to more, there were exactly 13 beefalo. On the other side of the world. I'm sorry, but I really think that is very ridiculous, even for an understandably harsh game like Don't Starve, with an even harsher DLC going on. It seems as though the old animals like merms, pigs, and Beefalo are getting low priority on world-gen to the new DLC creatures. Before the DLC, I could find beefalo eventually on the default world gen settings if I looked long enough. There were a few pockets here and there, far away from my base. But now, with a LARGE world, and with beefalo set to More, there's only ONE moderate-sized pocket in a section of savanna that is ridiculously far away. Of course, you can't not find them with the settings set to Lots, but setting anything to Lots is really absurd. With rabbit holes that become sunken in after rainstorms, and a lack of beefalo(which feels like more of an absence), the only reasonable forms of sustenance are berries, emergency carrots, seemingly finite-rabbits, tricky to find moleworms and flowers. Honestly, making ice edible again does little to patch up this problem. Actually, while i'm on the topic, it seems like chess biome areas don't seem to have clockwork creatures anymore. Which also defeats the usefulness of the chess biomes. No gears means no ice box. Which means a lot more spoiled food. No gears also means no Ice Flingomatics, which means all your stuff burns in summer. The game is definitely becoming a true chore now. It seems like world after world i'm getting is a loser. By that, I mean: You're guaranteed to not have a sustainable farm at all. And with summer burning up crops, you'll need a farm for late-game. I really find it hard to believe that is all my rotten-urine-luck. I've tried several worlds in a row and it's all pretty much the same. Difficulty through challenge is one thing. Difficulty through randomness is another thing, that I can accept. Difficulty through being denied the things you need to have any real base worth a single damn is something else entirely, and eventually unbearable. And before you suggest pigs, i've had extreme difficulty finding pig houses also. I suggest that something be done to make Beefalo, Pigs and other basic default creatures spawn a bit more often in world-gen.
brummbar7
I suggest that something be done to make Beefalo, Pigs and other basic default creatures spawn a bit more often in world-gen. I've not had this experience with beefalo or pigs. Though there do seem to be fewer pigs than vanilla DS, I think mostly due to autumn biomes having fewer pig houses than the pine biomes, which are less now. And my most recent Wigfrid world I probably killed (or had killed ) 16 or so clockworks. Do you have any mods going that affect world gen in some way? Silentdarkness1
....How. No, I don't have any world gen mods active. Speaking of which, the Lost Fragment mod crashes the game now, but that's for another thread.
Axegace
That sounds like a drag. I haven't had the same experience. I've generated two worlds on the beta so far. Got them both fully explored. They both had a healthy distribution of beefalo and pigs. As was brought up in this thread: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/33037-beefalos-in-spring/, beefalos are in rut all through spring and have a ton of babies. Just reached summer on my current world and the nearby herd has tripled in size.
Skorp
I also found plenty of chess biomes with monsters, the ones who didn't have them were a rarity. Perhaps it is truly bad luck?

No....no, I find that rather hard to believe. Frankly, no chess biome section should have the possibility to have no clockwork creatures imo. An Artifact
I'm really confused by this. I'm having no issue finding beefalo, not in a single world so far, and all the chessboard biomes I found had plenty of Clockworks on them, I never had a shortage of gears. I don't know, maybe some people's betas install with some world gen bugs and other people's don't. This is a truly weird issue.
Silentdarkness1
Okay, I have finally found beefalo in a default size world. Smaller world with default beefalo=find beefalo Larger world with beefalo set to more: Good luck finding beefalo. Logic. That seems like a bug to me. Or perhaps an oversight.
