Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I'm playing about 10 minutes ago and I make it to my first winter. I was very happy because I'm generally bad at the game. I'm on day 22 hunting a koalephant and the game crashes on my ps4. Obviously I was mad but I like the game so much I'm willing to give it another try. Did this happen to anyone else?

I've been playing on PS4 for awhile now and I have yet to have it crash on me. However, I have also never seen it autosave during gameplay. It only seems to save when you quit. I too have heard a lot of people stating the Console Version crashes often.

The PS4 seems to have a LOT more crashes than the PC version. I have well over 200 hours logged and my game has only ever crashed once. I hear people every day on the PS4 that have the game crash.

I've probably put in 50+  hours on my PS4 and I haven't had any crashes yet.

You're right that there do seem to be regular PS4 crash reports. It's definitely not the case for everyone though; I've been playing a lot since release and haven't had a problem. I'm saving very regularly since I use a simple workaround for perma-death and don't want to lose hours of progress if a catastrophe strikes. Could be what someone else suggested: saving and reloading avoids the bugs. This suggests the bugs are memory-related.

To those of you losing 100+ day saves because of a crash - I feel your pain :-/

i know that the PC version autosaves all the time, once or twice a day, and that negates the horribleness of crashes. PS4 should autosave too, probably in settings.

Assuming the platform can support that, mention it in Suggestions and Feedback

Weird quoting my own post but:

Even if the game still crashes (and not frequently or report it in the Bug Tracker please,) now your game properly autosames if you wish it to, or turn it off if you don't want it to!

Grants on the awesome patch updates PS4 players!

Now all we need is for Sony to fix their buggy console so that it doesn't crash in the first place. I've never had this crash from an in game problem, it's always the CE error which is 100% PS4 software related. Either that or it's hardware, which means we've got another RRoD case on our hands. You gotta wonder what happened to the days where consoles were indestructible.. I got a PlayStation that's nearing 20 years of age and was cracked (I was 5 give me a break lol) by one of my dad's work mates at the time, and it still works like new. WTF happened lol?

Without being necro (hopefully) as this topic seems relevant to my issue, pre-patch crashed only when I played for hours at a time... now I crash on ps4 consistently... seriously one save I had to completely get rid of cuz part of my base made it crash every time I went near it Of Course It Was My Grass Field :(

Heya @JadedMeiji, we're looking into this crash at the moment. It looks like the crash happens when there are too many entities being rendered at the same time. It happens to bases where players have planted or built significant number of trees, bushes, or structures.

We're testing out a fix for this at the moment; hopefully the fix will allow you to continue the saved games that are currently crashing.
