So... cheating or not?

Day 32, mid-winter, died to a tentacle while running from a spider.  Died again, shortly afterward, while running from the stone circle.  Respawned at the SECOND stone circle on the map.  In frustration, I Command-Q'd out of the game.

 

Now, several hours later, I've loaded my save and I've been brought back to the previous day, before my original death.  (Not what I expected.)

 

Do I keep playing, counting myself lucky?  Or do I delete my world, knowing that it will be forever tainted by my unintentional cheating?

 

(More importantly... Do I now immediately press Command-Q every time I'm about to die...)

Now you know, don't do it again if you don't cheat.

 

 

Whether you should continue playing is a decision ultimately you will have to make.

 

Sometimes, even if I live, I have deleted games because too much BS happened and I refuse to give the game any satisfaction it "can get away with that," but that's just me.

Day 32, I would probably delete and start over. Day 500, I would keep probably keep playing, counting myself lucky... but never do it again.

 

This is all just my opinion of course, but I would consider it cheating to use it past this point of discovery. The first time was unintentional, but second-and-more is intentionally exploiting a command to circumvent the whole point of the game... survival.

Personally, I'd delete it. 

 

You died. It wasn't a glitch. It wasn't something beyond your control that killed you. You lost to the elements, fair and square.

Going to mirror these two comments. You have the choice to play your game however you wish. If you want to use the console and spawn in something the world generator could never hope to reproduce, that's your prerogative. Hell, there's a mod specifically designed to avoid permadeath that a handful of players swear by.

 

Considering you were still alive when you quit (you simply wasted an extra Touch Stone), I don't see any reason to destroy your world entirely. Worst case scenario, if it haunts you in your dreams you can blow up the stones again and be right back where you were before Command-Q.

Kind of just depends on your "morals" when playing videogames. Personally, I might not have deleted it but I probably would start a new save.
