Rock Lobster problem

Hey folks, I discovered something weird after last patch (haven't played in a while, had a save game with Wendy @1321 day).

The surface is invaded with rock lobsters. There's hundreds of them. The problem arrived as a large pack of them was near the beefalos - mating season - all beefs dead, only 2 babies remain. I spent all my rock reserves to make them friends and get them to follow me and try to relocate them away from the beefalos, which worked for couple days, now they are migrating back.

I really can't kill them faster than they breed (not to mention how difficult is to kill them due to their toughness and rock form). While I enjoy their company as far as safety comes - dogs and deerclops have no chance with this huge herd - am really scared for my beefalos.

Any ideas / opinions on a work around this? Thanks!

In the future try searching topics ("rock lobster" would have helped) about this. It's common knowledge if you have them follow you to the surface and don't pen them in they breed like vermin.

See this thread and this other thread for discussions.

They can bread!?

I am bringing them right to my base, I might regret it, but it will be worth it.

Nope, they are Crustratians, not bread!

Seriously, they don't breed by pairing, but breed individually. This is also known as "Asexual Reproduction," what the Beefalo do.

I haven't brought them out of the cave ever (never actually interacted with them inside the caves). They just started spawning outside of cave entrance and the numbers increased and they started moving (TAKING OVER MY WORLD!!!) :)

And how comes they don't die, there's no rocks left on surface they should just turn to rot after couple days dammit! :p

@Teoss69: That's the last thing I'm considering! I won't give up so easy, just about to test a brilliant idea to grab ~30 spiders from swamps, by using several spider queen hats, bring em to the scene (using food that restores sanity to counter the prolonged use of the said helm), and send em to attack the lobsters and exterminate them! (pigs can't be trusted). Tho am a bit uncertain that it will have any success since I saw 3 young rock lobsters beating a spider queen with all the spiders without breaking a sweat. I swear a lobster can probably solo the deerclops too lol.

What's the problem?

Pigs give large amount of meat after transforming into werepigs, and you don't need fur in order to survive, who uses other hat than Tammy anyway? If you need beefaloes to protect you then... well... rock lobsters are 10x better, and they are hire'able.

@Misaki: I don't have a problem with manure nor meat, is just me trying to keep the last beefalos alive on this map lol :) I am all well past the point of base construction / survival / stockpiling resources / food etc. So I need challenges to keep me entertained and continue play in this world instead of moving to a new one :)

@Teoss99: yep it was a disaster, however I relocated them to swamp to have fun with the 10+ tier 3 spider dens and queens, hopefully as long as the spiders keep attacking them they won't migrate back haha!

Not every world has reed field trap, and they would only menage to kill maybe one... or two lobsters....

Send them to a Killer bee Trap, or a Tallbird Fort or Guardian Pigs, or just freakin lead them back to a dang cave and let the following run out down there, then leave.

If you absolutely want to keep them on the surface otherwise, PEN THEM IN.

You all have been warned.
