Don't Starve, where monsters control a monopoly

THIS is my (currently) most hated/feared enemy.

If I pop out of caves, they are at the entrance when I return.

If I am exploring caves, they can pop out in bunches

And if in the Ruins...

...that happens. When they get to 3-4 it stinks for me!

Rock Lobsters are the antidote to depths worms.  Worms are slow enough that they "lose interest" in you if you run far enough away. If the worm is then near a lobster, they will get into a fight and never aggro to you again.  Also, Lobsters multiply! Get five to seven to follow you in a cave long enough until they loose interest and they'll just make a new herd wherever they end up. I have them doing that in my overworld now too. There's so many near my cave entrance I can barely find a pixel sometimes to go into the cave.

Works in the Ruins too. Two clockwork rooks and two bishops have been taken down so far when I wasn't even there to watch the battle. But you have to watch they don't eat any Thulecite fragments which can sometimes drop - I guess the rook is bashing into something during the battle?

On the other hand Nightmarebeaks. Shudder. And never ever think you can grab the rope before that last hit.

My current file has the freaking mega biome of those blocking the only (very thin) land bridge to the Wooden Thing... = A=

I only figured that out because of the reveal all command... I don't bother with those if I don't have to.

my world has a big doughnut hole in it too. > :|

I have one of these too, but I found a wormhole to use to get around it w/o going through. Still, assuming you have bees in other biomes to harvest, then just set something close by on fire and watch it catch and spread until it wipes out the whole killer bee biome. Those nests are all so close together and fire kills everything. Particularly if you're planning to leave that world, doesn't hurt to blow up whatever is in your way.

That's if you never leave the caves/ruins level besides briefly.

You do and it gets too busy when you enter the zone with BOTH worms and Lobsters crowding up the area and being able to properly fight. I'm not the only one who got hit before I could respond because there was too much going on for me to armor up, re-feed minerals and kite away from Worms.

I've never seen depths worms. EVER. And from what I hear that's good.

Also, 3 red caps will kill a gobbler.

And on gobblers, wouldn't it be awesome if they ran toward you if you were hiding in a berry bush hat? And then when they try to eat your berries....

YOU JUMP OUT OF THE BUSH AND SHOVE THE SPEAR DOWN IT'S GOBBLY THROAT!!!! MMWWAAAAHAHAHAHHA!!!

Edit: I don't get why people try to attack pengulls. They drop feathers, morsels, and eggs. All of which are common and plentiful items. SILLY WILSON, PENGULLS ARE FOR HOUNDS!

(To the tune of the Trix cereal thing)

That happened to me all the time.  They key was staying down there long enough for the battles to thin a bit near the rope. I would "gear up" at the top of the hole, drop in a run around until at least the rope drop zone was a bit clear enough, then lead the lobsters and worms to a bit further away.

But I have to say that only worked on Cave 2 in my world. Cave 1 is like spaghetti now with all the worms in the floor near the rope, and I've given up on it.

Also, 3 mushrooms of any kind will kill a gobbler.

FTFY

Why if I ever don't die and find myself in that manner again, I'm just going to gunpowder the [censored's] and plan step two per that "Worms Are ridiculous" thread ....

Speaking of Pengulls:

- is there any way to tell where the "nesting" areas will be in summer? I just about built a secondary base on top of one once and realized it was pure luck that I moved off.

- no pengulls anywhere for several winters now. I even hang out near the shore sometimes to see if that will get them to spawn. I never attacked them, but I sort of miss the company :)

There is no point in predicting where Pungulls will nest, they don't give anything special.

Well, you don't want them nesting right in the middle of your base. A bunch of birds in your way ruins things, not to mention that icy floor.

If you are setting a permanent base somewhere, you can't help it...

Oh, wait, you can, KILL THEM!

It's that simple!

Doesn't the floor still remain? I'm not wasting my time caring about killing them and happen to like ice skating :)
