[Challenge] Nomad

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna try this. Also, crock pots allowed, right? I don't think that I'm gonna survive very long without this "make better food" thingy. Also, drying racks on, ok?  And, if you don't know, metal potato thing has 3 farms so I can use them, I guess. Hey, I did not build them! :p:D

You have to dismantle everything before morning. A drying rack would prove of no use, since meats take longer than a day to dry.

As I've said before, you can just live off berries. No need for Crock Pots.

Mastering the nomadic style I absolutely can attest to this. Just if you happen to get the rare meats (Drumsticks for example) it may help to temporarily make a CP then, especially if you are tank fighting after a fierce battle.

Ironically, with Wolfgang, this tactic is making it before fighting if your pickable food resources are low and you can't find enough berries to sustain and do this.  But Wolfie's strategy is best to stay in the middle Hunger ground and NOT fight most of the time, if nomadic.

I have to say that at day 600+ all I use grass on is traps... Grinding is for chumps.

Also, traps are the easiest way to quickly get rid of Spider waves when you are hunting them, especially to destroy and replant a tier 3 base!

oh yes! another math thing for the list ;)

12 straws + 4 stick + patience, young padawan = loads of spider silk and a spider egg :D

or if lacking patience 18 straws + 6 sticks = spider silk, spider egg and leftover traps

This kinda make Wolfgang one of the weaker character for nomad lifestyle isn't it... No I'd say his character power would be quite under utilized.

Wilson needs less firepit pit stop during winter, Willow will save on so many straws and sticks, WX-whatever can just carry gears and never go hungry/insane till the gears run out, Wendy won't get stunlocked by anything she accidentally walked into, Woodie got loads of wood and an unbreakable (albeit weak) weapon, Wickerbottom doesn't even need science.

And wolfgang just go hungrier than everyone else XD

Where was that chain reply I was using when Playing Wolfgang pre-base again...ah yes...

You know, I haven't played Wolfie or Wendy for a while, so might as well try the former. Teo, any food-management suggestions for those first days when you're looking for resources to set up a base? (That's my weak point for that character.)

Only walk along the shore. Collect all Berries and Carrots, don't bother cooking them. Punch all the Butteflies you can. Stay wimpy and avoid fights until you have your base. Never eat above 105 hunger.

Base near rabbits and Beegalo. Have 4 Bee Boxes and at least 30 Bushes set before day 15. After that, focus on getting a Spider Den and a Beefalo Hat. Then Kill a Koalefant ever 3-5 days. Use its meat to make honey ham. That's what you're gonna live on until you can get a steady supply of monster meat for bacon&eggs.

Thus the him also eating carrots (not saving as many for winter) and butterflies when going "pre-base" or "prema-pre-base" in this challenge. As noted in the thread:

Yeah I tried that once and I lived off of berries and just made science machines to make winter clothes. That was my most boring playthrough.

Teo gets bored doing it  though, not that it's too much harder however.

That's what the caves are for to end that boredom (but for the love of DS, NOT without an established base first so not going to happen here.)

Yeah I got bored too playing that way. The nomad life doesn't bring out Wolfgang's character power. Playing wimpy not only mean we fight less, but if we want to fight more it's harder to get out of wimpy mode because nomadic life doesn't allow the luxury of crockpot or drying rack often :/
