How to have a sustentable dragon fruit farm?

Recommended Posts

i usually run across the teleportato base in the first 4 days, in almost every game.

i've played default plus several times i really don't find it any harder than normal, cause you aren't fighting boredom.

It is very unlikely for someone to find teleportato base in the first 4 days. That would require, as I said, luck, not skill. And with luck, you can find things that are way more game breaking than some dragon fruit.

You can do that in any mode, you just need a torch. Also, at default plus, you already start with spider dens at level 3, so it is way harder than default.

And I am 99% sure it is impossible to have an ice box at the first 6 days of game if you are not extremely damn lucky.  Actually, it IS impossible. It requires an alchemy station (you can do that in two days but it will drain ALL your resources) and gears (totally impossible unless you dig graves and find one). The only way to find that is finding the winter set piece, but that would trigger winter.

Played it. Dens start as T2 in your initial area not 3.Whether other dens are T3 I can't say I got there quick enough at start time to see if they hadn't upgraded yet.

Finding the TP in 6 days or less is major luck, even with not stopping gathering minimal resources and use the ones you are given. Same with finding gears in graves (I clear a frickin big graveyard and no luck of course.)

gears in graves, almost a pointless effort... best to find the base if you need gears. btw does the base even spawn in forest, or swamp biomes? seems to me i can only ever remember finding it in mosaic or wilderness biomes.

Never seen it spawn in swamp, but seen it spawn in forest a few times. It seems to prefer rocky or grassland biomes (and if lucky when starting out if you find it early, next to killer bees' nests.)

so thats what 3 verified biomes? out of 6? how many days does it take to explore the map? i run the edges in usually about 8 days, so saying i skip 3 of the 6 biomes, that means those biomes could be edge mapped in 4, if my hunch is correct and it only spawns in mosaic and wilderness biomes most of the time, then the exploration time drops another day possibly. lupadim i'll 3/4 agree with the luck part, but it's not all luck mostly knowing which biomes to look in first.

Keep going along the shore and you'll eventually find the Teleportato in your first week. And by the time you find it, you should really have materials for both Science Machine and Alchemy Engine.

Don't know it but, can you feed a cooked Dragon Fruit to a bird to get seeds?

You can't. I may be wrong, but I probably am not.

The chess biome can spawn at any biome. I never saw it in the swamp, so probably it won't spawn at swamps, but I have found chess biome everywhere so far. Most times it is at the savanna, which is huge. It takes 2 days to completely explore the savanna. Considering some worlds have two huge savannas, do you really think you can find the chess biome in less than 6 days?

By the way: I have already explored all my savannas, no chess biome so far. Day 20. I spend like 100% of my time uncovering the map. That chess biome is very well hidden and all that is left is the swamp biome.

It takes 2 days to completely explore the savanna.

I told you, keep on the shore. You don't have to explore the whole biome. The Teleportato is always near the shore.

And also tried the cooked dragon fruit and the bird didn't eat it, so you can't prollonge its life by cooking it apparently

That brings me back to the days of birdcage OP, lol. It is reasonable that birds don't eat cooked fruits though.

Found the chess biome. Basically, I started walking around day 25, decided to find the chess biome no matter what. I had 3 dragonpies and 2 honeyham. After much exploring, it was day 27 when I found some kind of swamp maze. It was very weird: The water was creating a very weird path, and it was full of tentacles. It took me like 1 minute to get past it. I found a large savanna. I finished exploring it at day 29 (walking along the shore and walking right at the middle). I started exploring a bit more. Found killer bee biome. As everyone knows, killer bee biome will always contain a chess biome.

I used the killer bees to kill the chess pieces , it was pretty easy. Now, I have 10 gears and two purple gems. The gears have no purpose for me, but I'll store them. I plan to play as every character the game has.

I followed the advice I found above. I have 3 crock pots and 9 dragon fruit farms. In theory, 6 farms must give me 9 seeds and 3 farms must give me 3 dragon fruits to cook. In practice, this rarely happens. The 6 farms gives me around 8 seeds. I am probably going to create one extra farm.

Right now I want to know when winter is going to start. I am using the long summer setting.

Well you've got 3 pies for 3 days and the fruit should regrow back in 2, so...

Regarding the bolded parts:

No, it does NOT always contain a chess biome. I have even NOT found a thing beyond their Killer Beehive bottlenecked entrances/exits.

Edit: Found a game that illustrates this:

And per the Wiki for extended seasons:

Additional information concerning specific consequences of the customization options:

  • A long season lasts ~50 days.
  • A short season lasts ~10 days.
  • A long day is 14 daylight hours, 1 dusk hour and 1 night hour of the clock.
  • A long dusk is 7 daylight hours, 6 dusk hours and 3 night hours of the clock.
  • A long night is 5 daylight hours, 2 dusk hours and 9 night hours of the clock.
  • Resources, animals, and foods set to lots will spawn in every biome, with the exception of plants in Rockyland.
  • Rain set to lots is infinite.
  • When Lightning is set to lots, lightning will strike every 12-30 seconds.
  • More information on the frequency of Hound attacks can be found here.

So if this is correct (haven't done extended in a long time,) winter should start approximately on day 51. Considering the Adventure mode's certain world's winter is 10 days,

"The Game is Afoot" since the Update,
this is highly likely correct.
