Innis
Hey, we need some people to come on over to the wiki and help add cave biomes. There's biomes listed for the surface and the ruins, but the cave layer just lists some of the things that spawn in the caves, without even mentioning that these things clearly spawn in sections just like in every other part of the world. Here's what I can see from exploring--presumably someone with an eye for Lua could find out more?Bat Country - Guano turf. Lots of batilisks and lobster-claw-shaped stalagmites, with the occasional pillar. Lots of guano, too. I'm pretty sure some of the guano is generated in place, batilisks may poop out a lot of the stuff but there's a ton of guano here even immediately after world generation.Rocky Cave - Cave rock turf. Lots of lobster-claw stalagmites. Rocks and flint on the ground even before any earthquakes happen. Occasional pillars here too.Underswamp - Swamp turf. Reeds, tentacles, spiky bushes, spider nests. No merms.Slimey Underforest - Slimey turf, with foggy circles of mixed meadow/forest turf where clusters of trees, saplings and grass grow in patches of sunlight. Outside of the sunlight, on the slimey turf, there's a sparse collection of berry bushes, mushrooms of any color, saplings, fireflies, and spider nests.Muddy Underforest - Muddy turf, with foggy circles of mixed meadow/forest turf that work the same as above but generate berry bushes on them too?Lightbulb Swamp - Swamp turf. Lots of light flowers, occasional tentacles and huge tentacles.Rock Lobster Country - Cave rock turf. Lots of boulders and rock lobsters.Cave Spider Country - Cave rock turf with splotches of guano turf. Lots of spilagmites and the kind of stalagmite that looks like a spilagmite. When I last got here there were a bunch of those terrible nightmare crevices that don't appear anywhere in the wiki either but maybe those show up everywhere and it was total coincidence I showed up in cave spider country on Nightmare Day or something?Green Mushtree Grove - Green MISSING NAME turf. Scattered green mushrooms, green mushtrees, foliage, and light flower plants.Blue Mushtree Grove - Fungal turf. Scattered blue mushrooms, blue mushtrees, lightflower plants, foliage, carrots, and rabbit hutches.Red Mushtree Grove - Red MISSING NAME turf. Scattered red mushrooms, red mushtrees, foliage, and lightflower plants. Mushforest - Patchwork red MISSING NAME, fungal, and green MISSING NAME turf. Lots of mushtrees of every color and mushrooms of every color. Usually the mushtrees all grow on fungal/MISSING NAME turf of their color.
23rd
Worth pointing out that some of these turfs could be combined in one article, like Underswamp and Lightbulb Swamp. There are different types of the same biome on the surface (Grasslands could be defined as resourceful Grassland, Mandrake Grassland, Killer Bee Grassland, etc.) so the same should go for the a lot of these listed biomes. the truthseeker
Technically (as 23 has posted) there are several variants of the same type of biome like above-ground plains has three variants (regular, beehive and mandrake themed.) I didn't realize the changes were that varied though (and totally missed a couple like Bat and underswamp are considered their own biomes and not just segments in another cave biome)
TeoSS69
Are those even official names or you just made them up?
Spyder
The "Underswamp's" official name is The Sunken Swamp. That's all I know.
Innis
Worth pointing out that some of these turfs could be combined in one article, like Underswamp and Lightbulb Swamp. There are different types of the same biome on the surface (Grasslands could be defined as resourceful Grassland, Mandrake Grassland, Killer Bee Grassland, etc.) so the same should go for the a lot of these listed biomes. Hmm! You're right. I guess I'd combine the two underforest biomes (muddy and slimey) into one Sunken Forest article, the two swamp biomes (sunken swamp and lightbulb swamp) into one Sunken Swamp article, the three cave rock biomes (rocky, rock lobster, and cave spider) into one Cave Rock article, and the four mushtree forest biomes into one Mushtree Forest article. Technically (as 23 has posted) there are several variants of the same type of biome like above-ground plains has three variants (regular, beehive and mandrake themed.) I didn't realize the changes were that varied though (and totally missed a couple like Bat and underswamp are considered their own biomes and not just segments in another cave biome) I'm glad to be educational! The caves are a really awesome place with a ton of variety. I made this thread with the main goal of telling other people how rad they are. I didn't realize that there are several variants of the same type of biome above-ground until 23rd pointed it out, though. Can someone tell me more about that, if there is more to tell? I'm intrigued! Are those even official names or you just made them up? Oh, I just made them up! Like I said, this is all from exploring. I don't have any official info--I haven't even dug too deep into the Lua files. The "Underswamp's" official name is The Sunken Swamp. That's all I know. Thank you!
