MilleniumCount Posted November 1, 2013 Share Posted November 1, 2013 Powder Flash Camera Something like this: Original OPThe camera could be a weapon against nightmare creatures, which would go ''Poof'' if the Powder Flash Camera is used on them.Perhaps with a decreased chance of looting nightmare fuel because it also ''Poofs'' in the bright light. An alternative could either be: Stunning and stop a couple of enemies from chasing you (hounds) due to the flash of bright light and/or gaining sanity if taking photos of flowers, butterflies or other civilised stuff. The charges could be made with Flash Powder, which could be an additional use for gunpowder or niter and charcoal. And it would look very nice. Powder Flash Camera Location: Science Tab, Second Tier Materials: At least one gemstone (for the lens), sticks and wood for the casing Fueled with Flash Powder like a Lantern or the New Mining Hat (recipe for the Powder contains either nitre or gunpowder) Deployable/Equipable? pending Use: Weapon against Nightmares? Stunning of enemies? Aren't we hypocrites, complaining to no end about the derailing of the puzzle thread and then going completely off-topic here? Maybe we should report ourselves. ;P But anyway, about the idea. I think it's a very nice suggestion. I'm not a fan of it affecting shadow monsters, since light in itself wouldn't disturb their presence, or your perception of them. But I approve of being able to photograph civilised things for sanity. Photo albums could be created, and then displayed Screecher-style. Using it to distract monsters make sense. 23rd Posted November 1, 2013 Share Posted November 1, 2013 I could see it being similar to the Houndius Shootius in that you could set it up near your base and it would automatically stun creatures within its range. It would either have to have a smaller range than Shootius or be especially expensive to craft. I definitely like what Simplex said about creating photo albums of civilized things, too. If we are to act like zealots of railment (?), we need to be stricter with ourselves than with those we judge, don't you agree? Not to mention, in terms of post percentage this may be worse than the puzzle thread. But enough. I think it should require deploying to be used, but also be able to be deconstructed and carried for deployment elsewhere (possibly applying a speed debuff). There should be some element of desensitization; eating taffy all the time will get less and less effective, similarly to wearing the same hat all the time. You need to exposed to a variety of things reminiscent of civilized society to be sane. Of course, if you wait a while you'll enjoy it fully once more. Of course, if you wait a while you'll enjoy it fully once more.That's where the sanity and furniture objects (which were mentioned in various other threads) would kick in. Like a hatrack for your hats or the various floorings like carpet and wood could provide you with a slow sanity regain. Either deployable or wearable in the item or even armor slot would be ok for me. Also I could think of the one or the other quote.Also it would be a ''technical'' item again and not a magic one. More in the scientist branch of the items. Making an album would be nice too...although now I am remembered of Bioshock, with the camera or the videocamera for mob analysis...hmmmmmm Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
