During combat, my character often starts to pick a bush or sapling instead of swinging my spear at the spider RIGHT BEHIND ME. I don't know how my girlfriend can play the game on her laptop. All these problems AND MORE!!! can be yours if you don't fix the buggy unintuitive control scheme you've established. How in the HECK did Wilson know that GOSH DARN tentacle was there ANYWAY?? HUH? HUH CLAY INTERACTIVE?? TELL ME THAT DANG IT!!Anywayz, Please do not rush into some separate control system for the ps4 right off the bat, fix the PC version's control scheme first so the mouse is more optional and spacebar acts smarter (I don;t care how you figure out ranged target selection without a mouse JUST DO IT). I know I'm not gonna get an overhaul to the control system, but if the interface/controls are better on ps4 I will try to return my game. Not because I plan to switch to the ps4 version, but because pc gamers are always getting the short end of the developer after paying him. We made you the success you are, don't hand a better game to someone who payed you a lot less money just because you've already tapped out the PC market. userr3 Posted June 11, 2013 Share Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) Well everyone is fine with the controls, but of course there has to be somebody who *****es about it. Not harvesting a crockpot or a drying rack or using a tent when pressing space is acutally a real bless, so you don't take food you actually don't want. It seems clicking things is just to much work... for people like you. The food stays fresh anyway when it is no tharvested. The thing with the tentacles is annoying, but actually it is just fair, because pressing space does the nearest option avaiable and chooses fights over picking up things. So if you decide to go in a swamp I would recommend you to just click things, like every experienced player does. And the thing with the spiders: You should probably rework your spider attacking techniques, because I never had problems fighting them... The reason Wilson attacks tentacles is because spacebar has a higher priority on tentacles than reeds. As for spiders just use your mouse to attack once then from that point on Wilson will prioritize attacking the spider with spacebar. It's not as serious as you're making it seem in your post. Meaning you will press a button on that controller to harvest your crock pot. Maybe there are 3 buttons on the ps4 version 1 for harvesting plants etc, 1 for attack, and 1 for crockpot/alternate actions. If clay can't give me a play experience that is the same or better as the ps4, I don't want this game anymore. I never would have bought the game if I knew a better version was coming out NOT on the PC. I would have bought something else with my money.Just use your mouse and calm down. It's.Not.That.Serious. The controls are fine, infact you're the first person I've seen make such a big deal about it. I'm WARNING the devs at klei that if the ps4 version ice staff and fire staffs AUTO TARGET ENEMIES i'm gonna lose my poop. On the other hand, who wants to play the ps4 version if the staves just shoot in whatever direction the character is facing. The game will become more difficult or easier on the different control scheme. I was pirating the game until about a month ago., switched for the cave betas. Wish I'd of waited till today so I could see how klei handles themselves. If they appease the PC market (the people who are the only reason they GET to make a ps4 version) then I made a wise choice giving them $$$. I can't blame them for making a fun product for the ps4, but I would blame them for making a BETTER product for someone else after I gave them MY money.You're making a fuss out of something so small. It's really not that tough to use your mouse, you just hover over the enemy, click and you've set him on fire. Good job. You don't need auto-targeting. A mouse involves moving your wrist, the mousepag involves you moving your fingers... most people are so used to the traditional wrist movements of a mouse! But, no worries, I'm looking down on anyone, I sure wasn't the best at using a mousepad when I first tried... but now I top the leader boards on TF2 servers! I'm just saying on PS4 YOUR NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO SAY USE THE MOUSE IN THE MARSH. There will be a different system of control. Please explore inside your own head the possibility of this system being better or more fun than what is on the PC. If this possibility doesn't piss you off, please tell me why not?Actually I can't even see any issues with it in the first place. Of course there will be a different system of control on the consoles, otherwise it wouldn't be very playable, I just can't see what issues this would bring to the PC since PC already has good controls and I don't see how the PS4 can take away from that. puph Posted June 11, 2013 Share Posted June 11, 2013 I personally find the controls fine. I can hear a tentacles on any crappy pair of speakers before they are visible. This is your cue to NOT use spacebar because the range for attacking is higher than harvesting. Duh.... If this weren't the case, you'd be ONLY picking up items instead of attacking with spacebar.EDIT: Not for anything, but I hooked my XBox 360 remote to my PC and played Don't Starve just to see. Feels normal, just takes getting used to.
