Simple post, today I decided to for the first time in quiet awhile to start a brand new fresh world, but I wanted to meddle with world Gen settings to toggle rifts on, I am saddened that rifts can be turned on, Moonstorms Can Not.

Moonstorms still require gathering all three celestial alters to start, and yes that includes needing to fight Crab King.

Please add them to world Gen settings so I can just toggle them on without needing to refight the crab king. 🥺♥️

(add world Gen settings for other newer contents that’s missing too would be good)

lol mike, for moon storm to be turned on you need altars socket on 3 fissues, simply make a toggle wont make it, as even if you done moon storm quest, without 3 altar fissues you cant summon CC.

So you still need to refight crab king, regardless of moonstorm on or not.

It’s not intended to summon CC, it’s intended to experience late game content and world changes without needing to do a long quest to reach it or fight multiple bosses.

The reason why someone would want to do this is the same reason we have an option to turn on Lunar & Shadow Rifts from Day 1 in worlds to experience new “map based” challenges & resources, without fighting the bosses tied to unlocking them. And by the way yes, you can toggle on Lunar & Shadow Rift content without progressing the game to the point you need to unlock them on vanilla world settings.

We just, do not yet have options to enable Moonstorms without building the three alter on Lunar Island. (Which involves needing to kill Crab King)

Lunar and shadow rifts are a world change that happens after fighting the bosses. The moonstorm is the major world step towards a boss. It can only exist as long as the altars are plugged in and implies you are intending to specifically working to fight celestial champion because it is direct part of the quest that you so clearly do not want to do. Making it a world setting would not work nor would it make sense.

Much like the Lunar Rift, the Moonstorm is also a randomly generated event that picks a random location and starts a storm within (plus I enjoy the added challenge of needing desert goggles or astrogoggles in map wide sand storm like events rather then those being restricted to summer and only in the desert biome, I love how the lightning pulses through the ground, and the bird defense mini-game you can play to help Wagstaff stabilize a Restrained Static (an item Wigfrid needs to get upgraded Elden Spears as part of her skill tree kit) In my world where I actually have assembled the 3 alters and killed CC I have Moonstorm content to enjoy, but god forbid should my world save EVER get erased I’d really just love a toggle to turn on Moonstorm content same as how you can just turn on Rifts.

It wouldn't work... because? Why? Lol

I feel like a lot of things about this game need to be changed… and in the past Klei was more open and actually listened to Feedback (making Pearl Nocturnal in lights out mode so she actually spawns and players can enjoy that content)

I feel like Klei needs to revist that mindset again, for example: If I disable Crab King in world settings and therefore when my world is created it NEVER spawns, then I should be able to just skip the entire Crab King Fight & the Quest to get pearls pearl, and just drive a boat out to the location Crab King would have spawned and use a pinching winch to retrieve the Celestial Alter part that I’d need to kill Crab King to obtain under normal settings.

But Moonstorms are Map Wide events that can happen in any biome similar to Lunar Rifts (and you can have both rifts and Moonstorms active at the same time) for me: A RogueLite enjoyer…. It brings just a tiny edge more unpredictable chaos to just trekking back & fourth through otherwise familiar biomes that always stay the same..

But when a “Moonstorm” happens in the Swamp, it impairs player vision, slows player movement, requires head gear to traverse through without being mostly blinded by snow blizzard like effects, And provides a cool new look & atmosphere to the existing biome and makes Swamp Tentacle a billion times more dangerous.

If Lunar Rifts & Shadow Rifts can be toggled on in Day 1 worlds, why can’t Moonstorm effects?

Presumably because moonstorms are designed to turn off when CC is killed. Like YKW said, moonstorms are a step in the quest. They are not designed for long term use no matter what people use them for.

Anyway if you want moonstorms, you can already turn them on or off. It’s completely unlike stuff like rifts or treeguards.
