Metal is significantly heavier than flesh and bone, so even if they made their mechanical chassis the same height and build as their old organic form, it would still weigh much more than they once did.

Problems:

  1. their height, before or after, is unknown. the only hint is a model sheet seen in Winona's introductory animation. and it apparently says that WX-78 is either 4 feet (1.23 meters), or a whopping 14 feet (4.27 meters) tall, depending on how it's read (though I doubt they're 4.27 meters tall.)
  2. what metal they're comprised of is actually unknown. it looks like brass or copper, but it may be galvanized or rusted iron, and those two metals/alloys have very different weights!
  3. how hollow they are on the inside makes a difference, and that's unknown too!

if any developers happen to see this, or if any god-tier theorists see this, I would love an answer!

plus, more fun trivia for the wikis!

More than me, less than your mom.

More seriously: they appear pretty hollow inside in the shorts we've seen, and I'd reckon the metal is copper or brass rather than rusted iron, simply for the fact that its color is more coppery and it's very conductive, acting as a natural lightning rod. Iron feels like it'd give them innate damage resistance, which they don't have, and the rusted iron ore in Hamlet is a different color. Also, their battery is probably one of the heaviest parts of them regardless of what they're made of.

The number is definitely a 4 and not a 14. Also, that doesn't indicate WX-78's whole height, it only indicates the height from the top of their face to their midsection (that's what the bracket on that side shows), while the number on the right (ten inches = 10") is their midsection to their feet. 4'10" is a very reasonable height for WX-78.

4'10", made of copper or brass, mostly hollow.

thank you for your analysis :wilson_dorky:

Well, based on both in game and the trailers their body is mostly hollow, but is most likely made out of something like iron because they can rust. I dunno, I’m not smart.
