What's a fun synergistic duo that usually doesn't come up often?

For me it's Walter and Wickerbottom personally I've been on both sides of this team up.

On Wickerbottom's side she offers her usual benefits like food, resources and the like with some additional perks like turning on rain for shockscrap rounds and speeding up Walter's access to his glommer grip.

On Walter's side he offers various early sanity recovery benefits like flutter strips, campfire stories, and bird meat for drying racks without relying on the bird and sleep books.

However where their teamwork really shines is when they get access to banana bushes as Wickerbottom can use those for sanity and Walter's furry forager skill doubles the amount you get leading to situation where her book food production doubled from 15 per read to 30 allowing for excesses use for both their sanity related issues. 

What about everyone else any other uncommon duos?

Also, end is nigh provides Walter with more moonshots than he'll ever need.

Walter + maxwell can cheese so many bosses.

Willow + Maxwell is also an excellent combo, bernie can protect Maxwell from shadows.

I can't really think of uncommon duos that just work. A lot of characters very obviously just complement each other.

Not uncommon, just want to share how I usually duo with my friend

With Walter and Wicker there is also cactus before the banana bushes.

Willow + Wicker is very good as bernie takes care of the shadow creatures for long enough so Wicker can do what she needs to do, and fireball can keep Wicker's sanity full. Taking away the need to get a bone helm asap

Wicker + WX is a classic one that made a comeback with WX's skilltree. WX can leave their chassis at base so Wicker can use her book to make stuff grow, while she is taking care of something else the drones get everything ready for the next read. She helps them by turning rain OFF/ON (depending on if they want to use electric damage or not), she can heal or recharge them with The End Is Nigh, turn ON full moon so they can farm gears, and if food starts getting stale WX can eat it and leave the fresh food for her (not that WX ever needs to eat anything but gears, but hey! it's an option).

Wortox + Wendy, he helps her with mobility and makes her shadow affinity a lot more consistent by knabbing killer bees, she offers extra AoE damage (also single target, Wendy just does a lot of damage in general lol), cheap nightvision (helps him a lot in the caves early on), and sanity aura resistance.

Winona + Maxwell is op, not only there is the catapults + cage combo, Maxwell solves Winona's problem with inventory space with his shadow storage, and can help gather the resources for the catapults/tps asap. Once antlion is down, Winona gives Maxwell mobility, which is kind of the only thing Maxwell lacks.

I don't really know what would make a duo uncommon, as any kind of duo trying to make synergy between characters is already quite uncommon from my experience (usually people just play what they want). But the ones above are the ones I tried out with a friend when we were looking to check out character synergies

Winona + WX is nice because you can obviously charge WX at generators, but you can also charge zaptrocuters which makes them a lot more viable

Wormwood and Walter 

Walter can provide wormwood with early game healing like the butterfly salve which only uses 3 to make and heals for 24 health,while also providing the portable tent to him you can make living logs very early which is helpful

Wormwood can use syrup of ipeca to feed a mob for easy poop which Walter can craft into poop pellets,they may not be the best but Walter benefits from it the most to avoid being hit and losing sanity.

Wormwood with a bramble husk can help walter gather stingers for his stinger zinger ammo,walter can stay at a distance to attack the bees but the brambles Aoe makes quick work of them plus additional honey can be used for honey poultice to benefit both of them 

I dont see this duo as often but it's a fun one that helps even a group for early armor/healing

Wormwood and Wurt. Wurtwood is a good combo because Wurt can get tons of seeds and kelp (growth formula) for Wormwood from the Merm King, and Wormwood gets to farm all those crops that she benefits from eating. He gets the meat she doesn't eat.

An interesting often overlooked fact is also Walter's healing bonus gained from the skill can be applied to other players if Walter directly applies healing items to them himself.

For reference the bonus is 50% more healing on all healing items and 10+ sanity when using flutter strips specifically so when you do this team up if Walter is around it's better to have him apply it to Wormwood himself when the situation allows.

I did not know that if a Walter had that skill and healed his teammates they would get the bonus from it I thought it was only for himself

if a group is low on healing items Walter can sacrifice his healing food to give to someone else since he can use honey poultice with 50% more effectiveness if they are fine with it most of the time hes out of hitting range

Yeah it's for whatever he applies it to but keep in mind that this doesn't extend to healing foods only to healing items specifically so things like Tillweed Salve, Honey Poultice, Slimy Salve, Flutter Strip, Healing Salve, Mosquito Sacks, and Spider Glans. It is technically possible for him to apply this bonus to people in combat as well since he also applies medicines 50% faster and he can always slow down or freeze enemies if he still needs more time.

That's pretty great actually saves alot on resources plus it's not that bad to gather

WX with the inventory circuits + more resource gathering oriented characters like Maxwell or Wurt would be cool. You could clear out a whole forest in one trip if you wanted to.
