I just beat him for the sixth Winter in a row, and I've yet to see any of the blueprints drop. Supposedly a 50% chance, how often does someone lose a coin flip six times in a row? Are there other mechanics at play, or do I just need to keep plugging away?

I don’t actually know, so I’m taking a rough guess here… but it would be cool if loot chances were based on your world naughtiness level.

for those of you who aren’t aware, whenever you kill an “innocent” creature (that slight hiss sound you hear while punching too many butterflies) DST has a world naughtiness meter, perform enough naughty tasks and Krampii mobs will spawn to attempt to Donkey Kick your face in.

I figure Klaus being DSTs version of Krampus, that odds of “greedy” loots would increase based on world naughtiness.

But like I said- I’m only guessing here.

my bf lost 5 consecutive dice rolls during a dnd campaign a couple years back. the thing about a probability is that it is not affected by past and future rolls and instead is an aggregate. every time you flip a coin it is 50% chance for the duration of the flip no matter what.

yeah 1 in 5 is a statistic while 20% is probability, most dont really understands the difference

Klaus loot has been really unfortunate ever since they added things like mandrakes and tallbird eggs to it. I’ve gotten plenty of blueprints from klaus, though it’s usually like a mushlight or most recently for me a lazy deserter that I can’t really build without killing the respective boss anyway.

That being said, no better feeling than getting a bundling wrap blueprint from a klaus stash

I feel like the Klaus loot packages should be reworked. Make the life giving amulets these obscure drops like Mandrake and tall bird eggs instead of the actual boss drops. Also make it things like spider eggs and the seedshell shooter starters, basically anything that's non renewable conventionally.

I know it's besides the point, but you could feed Antlion eggs for desert stones. Still need to wait for summer though.

I've killed Klaus probably close to a hundred times and I've only ever gotten a single Krampus sack from him. Gambling is of the devil, I hate RNG.

It feels like the solid 10% chance the wiki states. Every now and then it drops when defeating Klaus. Not too often and not too seldom. If it dropped more often I fear the world would get littered with Krampus Sacks eventually for those who fight Klaus every winter, figuratively speaking. If the chance was higher and you expected the drop it would also be even more disappointed when it doesn't, lol.

that more or less was the point regardless, getting the lazy deserter blueprint isn't an advantage since you wouldn't be able to make or use it until you're actually capable of encountering the boss anyways

And the next one drops a Strident Trident blueprint (along with a Spiderhat, Desert Stone, and Scales). Neat how often venting on the internet about RNG seems to so much more often than not being followed by a more favorable result, silly superstition or not. I actually got a Krampus Sack the time before I made this topic; the absurdity of getting one of those before even a single blueprint helped push me to post about it.

Anyway, yeah, I definitely agree with getting at least 5 down feathers (wait, no one said that? Musta been remembering from another topic); there are enough booby prizes with Spiderhats, Desert Stone, and arguably some others. I don't agree with Life Giving Amulets being rare/obscure drops though, the materials they require aren't so exotic that they need to be treated like they're special, though in one Klaus fight where I got him by the skin of my teeth, I was finished off by the double-charge the deer always do right at the end, but since I'd left one of the amulets around from a previous fight, I was only down for a few seconds.

I'm looking at the loot table and...wow, honestly hard to believe the blueprints are a 50% chance. I forget they're even part of the drops. The only drop I really desire lately is the malbatross bill because it saves me a lot of time getting one naturally. Other than that the main reward for me is 4 wax paper, saves a lot of bee hives in my world. Krampus sack is cool but by the time I finally get one I have my inventory pretty well managed so...meh. It's a cool novelty for the runs where you get the drop on that first or second winter.

the wax paper is my big goal too but it is because i burn through wax too easily and dont like fighting bee queen XD

Every other week someone comes to terraria forums saying the game has a bug because they killed the billionth chaos elemental but haven't gotten the rod of discord. But unfortunately no, it's just bad luck (and bad game design imo)
