Don't get me wrong. I love rift content, Celestial Champion, etc., but I hate helping Crabby Hermit, because her quests are just a grind of resources, and the reward for completing the trash (It's just needed for the pearl to run further in the story)I just have one thought, the fact that she will need help kills all the desire to play the game.

Hermit's quests would be great if she opened access to new mini-locations, gave access to new mini-bosses in the ocean, on earth, and caves. And if the rewards would be better for doing that, then that would be good too.

Believe me, if the partial rewards were more 'meaningful' players would whine about content being kept behind gates and being compelled to carry out tasks only to not miss out on things.

And for anyone who doubts this remember that originally people complained that the rifts had nothing of value, then when rifts got actually really good items via tweaking existing ones and adding new ones people began to complain about it being gate kept behind rifts.

They should just add more quests. Maybe more unique quests too instead of plant this or place that. This would make pearl 10x easier and the abillity to avoid annoying quests.

New pearl quest, help her commit tax fraud

I don't mind the end game content, like I know it's strong and I do believe the game is a little harder with rifts active, obviously once you get the gear you're set, but still it's not worth much creating the world with rifts, because of the suffering you will get until getting the gear, and the pain of fighting the special bosses enhanced version, such as deerclops and bearger, and the other ones, such as mutated vultures that make the mutated spiders and hounds so yeah it's a grind on the surface to make the game harder so the only reason for me to defeat Celestial Champion is the lunar skills from skilltrees. And yes the crabby hermit is kinda boring to do the tasks.

i think some pearl quests should also serve as tutorials, like the cleanup quest, which is basically an intro to the winch
maybe she could teach you to make flower salad, which is a really good dish. Or how to fish, (the basic mechanics arent really explained in game)
and other examples that im too sleepy to think of

I feel like the disconnect when it comes specifically to Pearl and her quests is the easy to miss NPC quotes that used to happen (I haven’t really messed with Pearl since Klei added that weird thing where NPC chat pops up in the same location that Player text chat does, so for all I know they could’ve fixed this already…)

But from my prior experience with it: Pearls Quotes that briefly popped up and then disappeared a few short seconds later made it easy for the player to miss what was going on, what Pearl was asking of the player or what the game expected the player to do.

like I said, maybe the whole NPC chat thing fixed it, but I personally prefer stuff like “Wagstaffs Notes” or the “Scrapbook” which can have actual quest information written in it and then when I complete said quest it can be scratched out (like the big quest board in Hades 2)

Something like: Wolfgang writing his own Memo about it in his scrapbook or whatever: “Funny Crab Lady Want Wolfgang to look for 10 flowers & plant them for her”

6/10 or whatever.

It’s easy information for the player to understand and know what to do.

Winona: “Sheesh this gal sure is crabby when she’s hungry, now she wants me to fill her drying racks with food for her”

9/10 bullkelp or 6/10 Meats

The point is: This wouldn’t be a quick quote that pops up then disappears you can check your scrapbook/quest journal to see what’s left to have to do.

Because without that: Most of us look up Twitch streams or Wiki Guides to understand what we need to be doing.

I agree with many points regarding Pearl's quest annoyance. The thing is he lives far from usual base location means you need to travel to her each time you forget something, you need to live with her to understand what she wants if you don't read guids, and rushing her quests is stressful because "I could forget something".

But recently when I wasn't rushing and doing some things occasionally when I was on her island I found she just gave me a Pearl for mostly repetitive tasks. Like build her house till tier 3, kill lureplant, clean ocean, give her cactus salad, and just dry some food. So actually besides maybe ocean clean and building this was occasional Pearl, I haven't even planted any bushes or flowers etc.

Was she always like that or there was some change? It felt so easy to me.
