It's around the roadmap, and programming language of DST and Elsewhere. It's on topic.

Go on, tell me about Catmando or w/e it is you've got to say.

Well, since you asked so nicely..

He’s the Spiritual Successor to the Catmando, but it’s the second photo that’s interesting to me, you visibly watch his Adam’s Apple move down his throat as he eats another Wildlife animal. ♥️

Like, I'm involved in the Fire Emblem Engage modding community, and I only do basic stuff like editing XMLs, but like... It is super easy, and doesn't require using any .dll files, since I'm just editing XMLs, so it's very easy for the person to see what I'm working with... There are people who make more complex mods that involve proper Code Modding, and those do require .NRO files, but... Yeah, Unity does seem to actually be decently easy to mod, from what I know.

XML isn't nearly flexible enough to make the changes most DST mods do. (At least you can put comments? Unlike JSON, the language not intended for human use which Vintage Story decided would be great for modding.) Is there any benefit to XML over a file containing just a Lua table?

"Decently easy to mod" from a programmer standpoint is probably more difficult to the average modder than just using Lua.

In the trailer when the fog is converting the environment into the fog variants, a Mr. Skitts pops up. It looks made out of fog instead of shadow but I think this confirms "They" have influence wherever Elsewhere takes place. Not to mention the spawn conduit or whatever it's called has a shadow flame in it.

I call him Mr. Whisps.

Don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm more so looking forward to the roadmap (and hopefully more news on Don't Starve Elsewhere) than I am the official release of the skilltree.

I want to see Warly's skill tree listed as the next update.

None that I know, it's just that in Engage (which is what I have as a frame of reference for Unity), it's generally more functional to simply edit XML when you want to change values, and Lua is more for scripting events and stuff without needing to make direct changes to the chapter scripts (which could create issues if multiple mods edit the same chapter script).

Probably just an issue of Engage not having proper modding support that came directly from the devs, so it's harder to make value edits with Lua, so one works with XML instead... And well, with NRO when doing actual code changes.

On the other hand, when I was involved in Binding of Isaac modding, I basically only used Lua and never touched the XMLs because Lua was way better at basically everything I could think of, so... Yeah, if a game has proper modding support, Lua is most likely almost always better than XML.

Sometimes, depending on what XML files you're editing... Not much space for Comments, tbh.

The txt files used in scripts can have comments more easily though... Though you can just use a Lua file instead of the default txt files for the chapter scripts, so... >.>

I think I'm pretty close to an average modder, as in... Someone with very barebones programming knowledge who just learns things as I go to make the mods I want... And well, I'd say Lua is more convenient/powerful, but not really easier or harder... If anything, what annoyed me the most when doing XML editing was when I was editing multiple things with a lot of copy-pasting that made me wish I was working with an Excel Sheet where I could just drag a cell down and copy that section multiple times over.

can wait for the reveal of shutdown of dst !

I'm from the future

Spoiler

2030 was our unfortunate closure of dst but we have a blast in the final 4 years and dse now is the greatest ds game of the series with a massive following.
