The rangebooster circuits for theire price have almost no use without investing a skill point, plugging them also feels weird, because you need more than 1 to actually see any changes for the drones. For 1 compass I could just make robo-mapper drone to explore the map while I do other things. Some changes I have in mind that will be able to fix these problems: make birds be easly scannable without any other imput (not scared by Jimmy); make upgraded version of rangebooster that could be scanned from buzzards and will require rangebooster and a map scroll, it would be basicly the same but with second skill for the Beta circuits it could give wx78 a bigger map reveal + maybe also more map reveal or speed for roto-mapper drone = this would make people actually want to use it even if they have client mods and the ui would look much better without having full Beta slot with 1 slot circuits The amount of slots upgraded rangebooster would have could be from 2 to 3 but will have better effect (2 slots but have the range buff of 3 rangebooster cicruits). These are the only changes I want to see and I hope that the rangebooster will be able to see beyond the horizons and not be left in the shadows. Like... 10% at first, then 15% with two circuits and 17.5% with 3 circuits? Weevious Posted March 26 Share Posted March 26 Maybe I'm the fool here, but does anyone else find it weird that the speed boosting circuits aren't alpha? Is speed not a stat that you'd always want passively plugged in, like hunger, sanity, or health? It really does feel like there's not much competition in the alpha circuits, the super hardy circuit feels like it's very obviously the best one, glands aren't exactly hard to come by and most deaths in this game happen when you're taken off guard; with 400 health you can survive being stupidly unprepared and far too bold even without armor (even more so with damage reduction but that was just nerfed into the ground lol). Early game I scan the first spider I see and then waltz around with 5 small hardy circuits the moment I get my hands on some spider glands (I use the other two circuit slots on 1 hunger and 1 sanity circuit), I also scan and capture the first rabbit I see and get what's basically a free speed boost, and I don't think I should be able to do that! I think I should have to choose between the stat increases and the speed increase. The entire point of the speed circuit being 6 slots big is that it was a trade off back when there WAS no alpha and beta circuit separation. You get the early game speed boost, you lose out on all of your other circuits until you upgrade it. Early game, your circuits are limited by what you can actually scan, you basically just have the hardy circuit (spider, they're plentiful) processing circuit (butterfly, there's flowers near the florid postern) gastrogain circuit (hound, from the first hound wave, easy scan) and the acceleration circuit (rabbit). ALL of those are alpha circuits now, EXCEPT THE SPEED BOOST, so you basically get it for free, unless you really want to glow in the dark (fireflies is not a hard scan), which is not necessary early game, while walking around you should be picking grass and sticks. Furthermore, I don't think there's any circuit combos that become way too strong if the speed circuit becomes an alpha circuit. None of the beta circuits are on par with the speed circuit, except possibly night vision. I think making the speed circuit alpha adds some much needed competition to the alpha circuits, and removes the monopoly it had on beta circuits. I really really like the beta circuits, I truly do, but it always feels like a waste when I could be gaining a speed boost instead. I wanna use the thermal and refrigerant circuits, but simply crafting a thermal stone like a regular character is optimal because you're giving up a speed boost. On the other hand, 150 max health (plus some damage resistance with the skill tree) is a viable choice over a speed boost, especially if you feel like tanking! I really truly love this rework + skill tree, I just think it makes WX-78 a bit too easy. Obviously no character in this game is a free win, but I, a complete fraud, managed to survive the ruins because of my stupid amount of health circuits AND speed boosts. I actually have a LOT MORE I could say about the skill tree, but I feel like I have a greater chance of impacting the game design if I only ask for one specific change and explain why in as great of detail as I can. Either that or make higher quality spoiled food and "rot" (stuff like spoiled fish) give you more charges to your next nutribrick so you end up with more at least, possibly getting more than one if you eat a spoiling meaty stew or something.
