Remember when they said the petal ability for wormwood was problematic because it had "more uses than intended".

So why does Wx-78 get a million uses with a single ability with this terminator cloud skynet b*lls*it.

Im seething bro

What i do remember is that some people started topics saying the skill was really bad then suddenly klei removed it and after that everyone were saying it was the best skill in the whole game lmao. But even if im not correct at all, its still funny to remember.

It shouldn't be that a reason to be salty.

It had a lot of potential tho each day you could give away garlands and fuel for campfire and compost/rot it was much better than photosynthesis but I guess any perk that involves petals(floral shroud)

Spoiler

Klei please add the floral shroud as a skin it was pretty

oh yeah... the floral shroud, it was pretty I'll give it that. I forgot the name of the wormwood perk though... it seemed fine I suppose.

Now the value of such a thing I can't say, considering a person could just as easily grab a heap of light bulbs and either wait for them to rot (or find toadstool) or you could feed them to were pigs and get a ton of manure. That was how I made huge amounts of farms before the farming rework, goodness that was ages ago.

The nice thing about this skill tree is that the devs did mention there is a large disparity between the skill trees we are getting and the ones we got at the start, unsurprising to me personally since the simplicity of the Wilson tree felt both simple (although one might say that is fitting for him) and to others a bit lacking. With small touch ups here and there with all the new information they have now and all the things that the devs learned in making them, I am sure it won't take too long after they are done.

P.S. PuH-LEEEASE Klei! The characters that have yet to get skill trees are beggin' for some updates! ...no pressure though... just been waiting for... a while...

keep it up though, Klei is my favorite developer of games and the developer of some of my favorites.

That's when they still cared about balance at all.

Now characters do everything and it's whatever. Wortox can teleport with the map and it's just whatever, you kill some bees day 1 and now you don't have to get 8 nightmare fuel, 8 living logs, 5 purple gems, 8 gold and setup a teleporting station, you just right click and that's fun.

This disparity of ideas made Wendy's skill tree be in the middle of this mess. She's not balanced and not fun either, just a random thing that appeared that I'm trying to ignore it even happened still.

You could do so much with the petals, but it was hardly overpowered.

I do hope they touch up wolfgangs skill tree the most cause that is just mostly number buffs. You get like 5 skills in a row of pure redundency. They have aged so poorly to the newer skill trees where almost every other skill offers something new.

16 to be exact 13 of which you can invest in. its nice if you want something simple that is just strong I guess

Wait they actually said that? I thought they removed it because it was kind of dumb and clogged your inventory.

Only uses were rot, and feeding it to beefalo.

They should replace shadeplanf with fhe old petal skill. Shadeplant could be a skill earlier if people like it.

You could have chosen to point this out in better manners.

The developers dont have a personal vendeta against a fictional character they created, development cycles evolve and perspectives on what and what not can be done change.

They had a perspective when they did wormwood and they changed that perspective now, not to mention, they already have said the new skilltrees are gonna be severely more pulished and extend than before, and that they acknowledge the older ones are gonna be left obsolete and have plans to fix that as well.

The world doesnt hate wormwood, there is no weird favoritism for these fictional characters by their creators, not everything has a malicius intent behind it, sometimes stuff just happens, for better and for worse, and some people like it and some people dont.

While I definitely don't want a skill tree rerun Wx's skill tree really reframes what I assumed was reasonable for skill trees and kinda makes me wish they did it one at a time from the start.

Back when I argued Wurt's skill tree had to be the way it was I probably wouldn't have pushed that narrative if I knew something like Wx's were possible. It makes me realize merms could have definitely been nerfed and made way for more interesting gameplay had more focus been given to the character. I say this knowing Wurt is low on the list of characters who could use a skill tree refresh too.

Excluding easy targets like Wilson and Wolfgang. Woodie is particularly saddening due to how much wasted potential the were side of his skill tree has as there's so many aspects it could have covered as shown by how impactful and varied Wx's is.

They think making petals is OP, but giving Wolfgang a 30% damage boost and calling it a day isnt.

Tbh, Wolfgang’s damage buffs are pretty insane. Boring, but insane.

I wish every character could’ve gotten a skill tree as fun and interesting as Walter’s (and probably WX’s, based on what we’ve seen so far). I’m honestly a little jealous too.

I will have to put that on the hook next time I go fishing and see what I catch.

Literally every skill tree makes characters easier, every single refresh has made the characters easier, and the hardest characters get the worst skill trees and worst refreshes. If anyone is trolling it's you, since the only thing you've said in this thread is an unfunny insult.

they address that mobs will now react to atk out of their range, so i imagine more bosses might have movement skills that can close gaps quickly

dang my man, I am genuinely sorry. I just thought It would be a funny little joke, but I see that it wasn't and I apologize.

I often don't pay much attention to what is easy or not these days, I tend to focus on what's fun so I guess my natural response to some one talking about something being easy or not was to crack a joke, which again I can see now how that would just be aggravating. I hope there are no hard feelings here.

That said, to bring it back to the topic of the skill trees we got in comparison to the ones we have now, I can see why people would want changes to characters like Wolfgang. Doing extra damage is fun for a bit, but it would be nice for some unique ways to either do that damage or interactions specific to the character. For the most part it does seem to just be a lot of hitting stuff but hard, It would be funny to see wolfgang rip a tree out of the ground and swing it at the mobs similar to what he did it the "Trees-a-crowd" animation.

They seem to hate characters that are difficult and love characters that are easy.

If a character being too strong is what stops them having a good skilltree, then nerfing or reworking them is a good idea.

They are doing this to WX, and the reception has been pretty good since they made his base stats back to 100. I still wouldnt mind more, i feel like only the really inherently weak characters like Warly can get away with no nerfs, or characters who are one trick ponies like Wendy.

Hes still one of the best even if they didnt fix that. IMO the buff to slowdown rounds was way too much. Giving them aoe was enough.

Would be cool if this was the case, its a needed mechanic to make ranger combat feel much less cheesy. But it might just be for the drone.

I mean the problem with the drone is mainly the stunlock you can do at close range anyway.

Bumping this thread so klei can't miss it.

I'm actually glad that klei is realizing how insane the skill tree balancing is. I hope we can get the first four skill trees reworked.
