For a very long time, Klei has been releasing content in story arcs, alongside character reworks. So assuming this formula continues, what's next? What will the next major gameplay innovation be after postgame rifts and an explorable ocean? What will Klei do to make people complain about character balance more than skill trees?

This is all baseless speculation of course

I am really hoping that Klei will start focusing on polishing outdated mechanics (maybe smth like cooking, give it the farming treatment) or outdated world gen (new biomes, old biomes updated to be more interesting).

What I'd like to see is (personally):

  • Cooking overhaul to make it more interesting
  • OldĀ biomes like the savannah or second decidiousĀ biome getting a spiffy update
  • Caves getting their filler biomes updated
  • Maybe taking a look at the insulation items that currently aren't worth EVER making (floral shirt for example)

Just overall updating the game's outdated aspects!

My dream in DST is to have good reason to base in every overworld biome. Right now I only really feel that about the living in the two deserts, living near the swamp or killer bee biome, and all of the context sensitive locations based on where cave holes and wormholes happen to be.

I'm hoping things will slow down a bit and we aren't as focused on high quality mega big updates. I think the game has only gotten bigger and bigger but so has expectations for updates as well. I would like it if we returned to the previous smaller content updates for a while to catch our breath for both us and klei and potentially go back to the previous schedule. At least for a bit. After skill trees and Arc maybe. and go back to some of the roots the game could use here and there.

charlie boss fight is inevitable imo, the shadows lack a scion equivalent, and I can only think of her as being scion's counterpart. anyone else agree?

Lowkey we never see Fuelweaver dying, we only see Charlie tying him up and taking him to god knows where. So fw2 is a possibility.

Cooking is fine. Not everything needs to be big and complicated.

Also, it would be extremely controversial since its a major mechanic we always use.

I agree with the rest.

have you ever fought and beat warbot and scion in a legitimate survival world?

i mean we dont know they might make it so that the next shadow boss has something similar to the shadow hands, removing dwarf stars and campfires, forces u to fight in complete darknessĀ

What about lanterns, jubilanterns, shroomlights, glowberry mousse, and magiluminescence?Ā

That's... not what you said, though?

I dunno man, I highlighted the bit where you said "forces you to fight in complete darkness" instead of "forces you to use non-traditional light sources". Those sound pretty different to me.Ā

Hahaha rofl, I would literally just build boat masts and upgrade them with deck illuminators. Yeah they aren’t as good as more late game options, but they get the job done in all areas of the game except the one area they should have been designed to: Seeing to drive a damn boat at night without smashing into stuff.
