I picked it once, but I never ended up using it because it was easy enough for me to just ride Woby back and I rarely even fill up my whole inventory in the overworld anyway since I use a piggyback. I could see it being decent if you're doing some big resource-gathering thing, though, like chopping a ton of wood or mining all the rocks.

Personally I've just never found it useful teammates need to be coordinating with you to send things to them so often that aspect of the skill is useless. As for sending materials back to base it sounds amazing... at first then you realize how long you'll be without Woby. Wether it be her assisting with work, doubling food, picking up items, or just being the fastest mount in the game losing access to her on a skill that requires a 4 skill point investment just never feels worth it.

That being said I feel like the skill truely shines on more casual servers where people like to take things very slowly and travel in large groups as the areas where Woby shines outside of the ability will matter less as you don't want to outrun your team outside of combat and they'll offer faster work and collection speeds by working together. The ability allows the team to keep exploring nonstop so long as they prepare enough storage or have another team working on the base.

Then again I'm a big fan of the portable campfire and the stories buff that comes with it so maybe it's just that I don't like parting with Woby.

Yeah, this is the real reason I never ended up using the perk when I tried taking it. I feel like, for it to be useful, I'd need to be doing one task long enough to fill up my inventory and then keep going until Woby gets back, and there's just few tasks in this game you can do for that long? And if I'm chopping or mining, Woby can help me do those faster.

It is probably my favorite perk in the game (tied with Founder's Keepers II). I should clarify though, I typically do not play with randos and the people I play with are usually in a discord call with me. With vocal communication, it practically lets everyone share an inventory, time permitted. We also don't usually have a Woodie, Maxwell, or Wurt so using Woby's horns + gathering, it makes me the best chopper/miner of the group. It's nice to go out for wood/rocks, and being able to send everything back to base without actually having to go back to base myself. I can do multiple things before returning.

It's probably not as good for solo, but I certainly find ways to use it

One of the best perks in the game. It greatly extends your ability to do things without needing to go drop items off. It's true that you're without Woby while it's in use, but that's just a minor time loss compared to the major time loss of actually going back there yourself, dropping all the stuff off, and then coming back.

I did a Walter game once. It's extremely good. I also only play solo so that might have something to do with it. It's very similar in power to Winona's Teleporter imo. Just gather a ton of stuff, drop a teleporter deposit stuff, teleport back.

I used it once when experiencing Walter's ST. In that short world, I wanted to try out many of Walter's items in the early stage of the game, this skill really helped me manage my items better, and it was a pretty good experience. However, once I found the items I liked, I became more clear about Walter's game plan and rhythm, and thus I no longer needed this skill.

In the multiplayer world, I haven't seen anyone else using this skill. Probably because someone will always choose the Imp and Winona. Their performance in terms of teleportation and support during the early and mid-game stages is more favored by the majority.

I feel the main issue is the requirement to have the compass for teammate sending. I get that you wouldn't see them on the map without it, but technically that is just a UI issue. If the send command just popped a list of players on the shard, you could send to them *without knowing where they are*. That would keep the compass function without Walter bypassing it if he could send without it.

I play with a server mod that simply removes the need for the compass and suddenly the skill is super useful to help others. For such an investment of insight, seems like the compass requirement is the real problem. No one is going to have that pre-made ready to go when they suddenly need Woby's help.

Just remove the compass requirement and change the UI to just list player faces/names in a circle similar to the emoting circle wheel mod.

During the beta, I suggested that other players could pet Woby to give her their "scent" which would let her find them without needing a compass. I think by that point, people weren't interested in minor perk tweaks since it had been in beta for half a year.

Tbh the map isn't even really necessary for the skill since there can only be one manual destination per shard. I'd much prefer a list that lets you select the location that Walter set and the available players
