I have ocular albinism which means I have a very bad case of photophobia (when eyes are overly sensitive to light) and being at max enlightenment (especially in winter) strains and hurts my eyes. this is normally, fine-ish since the game has ways to lower sanity, but the enlightenment crown actively encourages to wear it filled with jewels, as the damage scales upwards with them, and it has been in the game for bit now and its become surprising (and annoying) that an accessibility setting like this isnt in the game, im sure the average player would also enjoy this over the prolonged stay with that filter. Being at 0 sanity when the snow on the ground is maxed out is also very bad, to put it simply

I really hope these can be addressed, we always get awesome in-game QoL which are amazing but just adding a little but more accessibility for easier playing like this would be very awesome sauce :)

As much as I love DST
this game has straight up eye-hostile overlays

WARBIS set and premier gardeneer hat are visually exhausting to use
and lunacy is especially notorious for sensory overload

But then how else would you know you are under lunacy?

Your sanity meter changes to a eye and gestalts appear more and more the more lunacy you have. Eventually attacking you when you have reached full lunacy.

that's very little feedback given most gestalt types can be clearly seen before lunacy mode.

I think people are seriously downplaying the gameplay purpose of both the sanity and lunacy color cubes.

Of all color cubes actually.

Fair points, but also actual health conditions that make playing the game physically irritating maybe could be accommodated with a minor settings toggle.

It could be atleast on the edges of the screen but like, this isnt to downplay the gameplay purposes of the visual feedback, trust me I get its purpose and it SHOULD be in the game, no way am I saying to remove it,  that's why itd be a toggle! Players who turned it off will already have known in what instances the sanity meter changes to lunacy

For both sanity (and enlightenment):

-There is an extremely noticable sound cue that occurs when going under 15% sanity (the warped daytime SFX) and above 85% enlightenment (the high pitched wind-thingy).

-The sanity/enlightenment icon will constantly pulse red under 15% sanity/85% enlightenment respectively

Idiling any amount whatsoever will force your character into a unique animation when below 15% sanity and 85% enlightenment respectively

It's pretty easy to notice when you are going under the effects of one or the other. The colors tinting is the most obvious sign, but reasonably paying attention to your stats or your character are still very easy indications.

As someone who has been using the jeweled crown which forces your enlightenment to max, the constant light bluish tint is extremely bad when playing for long periods and resulted in me having condiderable eye/headaches. It got to the point I was taking ibuprofen pills so I could play the game before I realized how absurd that was and have been running a mod to disable the enlightenment color cube since. I really don't think I need to explain why this is a serious concern and just having a toggle would be sufficient for a vast majority of people.

Yes please. I absolutely cannot use the upgraded crown on console, it's criminal that it's such an extreme filter

Leave it as is as default sure but please give us a filter

bro, different people have different eyes. someone with 20/20 vision doesnt need glasses but that does not mean glasses are over-hyped. please try not to tell people they are wrong just because you personally are not affected.

we dont have the same vision issues(i actually favour blue because red/orange-tones strain my eyes) but if you play on pc i have found this mod helps by adjusting the whole cube overlay;

No one is asking for it to be removed we just want an option to lessen the effect/remove it

this doesnt remove it. this alters the seasonal colourcube overlay which also alters how other overlays look without removing them fully.
