I'm currently going through the world of Wendy, and I still can't believe that there are more than 30 bosses in DST. Each of them has unique mechanics and loot, but sometimes some of them seem outdated, and some just need improvement.

•Great Depths Worm

Interesting by design, BUT I started to hate this guy for having to wait for him, and after killing the player, there's an emptiness in his soul. I believe that the boss needs an item capable of summoning him and a unique loot for easier movement through caves / the ability to guess the appearance of deep worms, which are sometimes difficult to fight.

•Toadstool

The boss challenge, which presented time trials to the players, once upon a time. Right now it's just a fat hp boss who has terrible loot that might be worth recycling.

•Twins of Terror

A boss who is a copy of another one with minimal differences and has a very controversial and weak item. (Seriously, who uses it at all if there is a Glass Cutter/Dark Sword. Even the pleasure of re-fighting with 2 eyes of terror does not give)

•Frostjaw

Perhaps the best of my list, but the most raw boss in terms of loot and combat. I think at least once he went out into the Ocean for every player. Conceptually, they wanted to make him in the form of a boss, the number of which is chosen by the player himself, but work on his rework was stopped and postponed, most likely due to the Rifts arch and the skill tree.

Perhaps some of you are also concerned about this problem and can write which bosses are the most under-developed or outdated.

The poll is flawed, it requires a vote for part 2. I didn't feel like any of the part 2 bosses were lacking.

My votes:

Toadstool - the loot is so useless to me, that we just save him as the final boss. We only kill him to check him off the list, that's it. I'd rather use the astral detectors than mushlamps.

Greater Depths Worm - this boss has STILL never spawned for me legitimately. Ever. The loot also seems completely uninteresting, anyway. Some unique thing (or maybe it drops surprising seeds?)+ a way to spawn it on purpose would both be appreciated.

Oh and being able to fight multiple frostjaws again for more loot would be great. That and I was looking forward to that "frostjaw as follower" thing they were cooking up, but it never happened. I like the fight itself, though, so I didn't vote for a rework.

Moose: this boss is so bugged, loosing agro all the time, despawning in the middle of a fight. Goose is so clearly outdated and needs some major bug clean up

Shadow pieces: They're so, idk, beta feeling. There should be unique drops for each of them, the night set does not feel rewarding at all. Right now they're just there as a step for the fuel weaver, but have no proper personality.

Twins: we've already seen fire that doesn't burn, it's not an excuse for klei to not make them more source accurate. Magic fire and lasers that only damage the player and nothing else is a reality in the game right now, so the twins should be getting new attacks.

Toadstool: All that hp for just decorative drops, and a worse pan flute. Either give him drops that are worth the health pool, or reduced his hp already.

The big worm: no unique drops, shows up extremely randomly. Ar the current state, might as well not even be in the game. Needs major spawn reworking, and have a proper drop.

Frostjaw: klei has already said they have plans for him, after the new color were added by mistake during a beta. I guess I'm just waiting to see whats up with that.

Deerclops: that might not be a popular opinion, but I think he's soooo boring. I really believe that his attacks should have the launch knock back effect when we're not frozen.

You can create a maximum of 20 variations in the survey, and if you're talking about bosses, oh, I decided not to insert variations because they're basically the same boss.

My top 3 bosses that need a rework:

1. Toadstool - A terribly boring fight. A few more attacks and some sporecap variants that would give Toadstool different buffs would be nice.

2. Bee Queen - Also a boring fight. A bit more interesting than Toadstool, but still boring. Nothing much changes during battle.
Bee Queen just spams minions, screams, and hits the player if they're close enough.

3. Dragonfly - It's not a bad boss fight. But the cheese with the walls really ruins the concept.
On the other hand the fight without this cheese is a bit clunky, as you either have to fight minions with a lot of health or use a lot of ice staffs to freeze them.
Furthermore, Dragonfly's Enraged form is very easy to counter, making this boss even easier to defeat.

Dfly - Maybe not a rework but allow the Lavae to attack walls, lower her HP.
Bee Queen - Idk, the fight is fine just not fun as a solo player. Lower hp a touch imo.
Toadstool - Same as Bee Queen, the fight is fine just not fun as solo, Lower HP would make it more enjoyable.
AFW - The fight is fine as is, I'd just like the woven shadows to scale with the number of players present, similar to Klaus' Gem Deer AoEs.
Frostjaw - I just don't like the fight. Not fun or even engaging.

If we could add "hostility" to certain bosses that'd be awesome. Something that affects the world until they are killed. Could be anything really. I suggested Toadstool spawns the rot clouds around the caves smothering it in filth until he is killed. Just make me have to kill the bosses, everything being optional is boring.

As long as more players = easier fight.. I’m going to forever say Dragonfly.

It makes no sense why a group of players are rewarded scales and it’s unique “faint” mechanic to make the fight easier, but if you fight this boss Solo? Whoa boy… it’s not fun.

Yeah, I agree. They don't even have their own boss theme music and their own boss figure.
Admittedly, there are knight, bishop, and rook figures that can be used to spawn them. But they don't represent them, they represent clockworks.
And a figure (or maybe even three figures) representing Shadow Knight, Shadow Bishop, and Shadow Rook in their final forms would look really sick.

Twins of Terror I doubt will be visited again, but I hope they are. It's just 2 eye of terrors with way more hp and 1 just halves the dash animation(which is why people go after it first.)

Bee Queen is simply not fun. Like, she should be difficult because her rewards are good and that's why people will deal with her. But her whole fight is just spam bees and screams and her running away and slowing you down with honey if you dare chase her. Basically, she should stay difficult, but interesting difficulty.

Scion also still needs a review. Warbot I'm fine with, but Scion is just a timer battle of "how much damage can you do before Scion gets a cheap blast off that removes 50% of the walkable arena." Also, it needs actual attacks. The ground creep is the only actually dangerous attack, it's other 2 attacks are Eye of terror dash and Nova, which while nova is cool, you just stand behind the leg to avoid it. I'm sure you don't need me to go into more detail as there's already like 30 different Scion posts about how to make it better.

Idk if Dragonfly needs a full rework? IMO I just wish she had another attack other than the swipe to dodge over and over again.

I'm just, okay with how the Scion is right now, but I want it to be better.

I'm all for making the creep slam attack less punishing if we also get some more mechanics/attacks to go with it. It'd be more fair and feel less empty than it does right now.

(i feel like writing another Scion post now :beguiled:)

Yeah, I don't just want Scion to be easier, I just want the entire fight to not crux on whether or not the boss sneezes in the wrong direction one singular time. It should be a hard fight, but it should be an array of hard attacks, not just 1 super attack.

Seems like a good place to mention that I personally would love a way to re-locate/remove Moose/Goose nests. On my 3k day world I have a quad goose setpiece right next to where my cave entrance is, and since I put walls there to pen some bunnymen in to deal with bats, every spring I have to rush over and kill all the geese that spawn there, otherwise they'll attack and break all my walls. It's incredibly annoying, especially since the only option I have to actually get rid of them is disabling them in my world's config, but it's not very fun disabling one of the main attractions of spring because of some unlucky world gen rng.

As for actual bosses, Scrappy Werepig is one I think really sucks. No matter what I do vs it, dodging it's attacks feels way too difficult for how often they come up, they straight up feel undodgeable at times. Then it gets even worse post CC with the stupid laser attack which actually feels impossible to dodge without an absurd amount of speed. The drops also kinda suck, like when was the last time you saw actually anyone actively use Warbot gear? At the very least the repair kit recipe should drop pre-CC so non-Winona players can actually use a chest robot, instead of having to kill 2 whole bosses just so they can get an extra 3 days of Wobot uptime.

Oh also make the Scion's lava fields despawn please and thanks :)

I'd love it if Scrappy guaranteed dropped the automechanic recipe, both pre and post rift.

I think they're saying there needs to be a "none of the above" option in each question. Polls don't allow you to leave any question blank.

The survey should be called "Which bosses don't need a rework"... 80% of bosses need a rework. The rest only need some adjustments to make the combat more dynamic

Make less Moose in the world. And your problems will become less....

Spider Queen - is a good boss. But she lacks a lot. It would be nice to add a web attack like in UM.

Ancient Guardian - He's a good boss too... But I don't like the fact that he has a stun for too long.

Deerclops - God... Klei, give her at least 3 more attacks. Spider with 4000 HP and a long-range area attack is not fun.... And up attack period for speed as in DS.

Tree guard - same as deerclops but worse... Need 2 new attacks. You can even make it so that only one per spawn. ( And Spider Queen too )

Berger - give her 1 attack and a good boss. He's not bad right now. For example, how to attack the butt of her mutant version...

Dragonfly... Make the walls destructible... Add some kind of ranged attack. Do this' so that she would fly away in the winter and fly to the player in the summer. And do so' so that Dragonfly has 3 static stun's during the battle. The duration can be reduced from 10 seconds to 3.
