Klei is usually a meaningless and aimless thing... They don't think about farms. They don't think through what's in their way. They just do it.

Klei is like Hollow Knight. They're doing something. But no one knows what motivates them or why they do it...

Also Klei in a year: An update is being released that ruins all farms and mega bases in the game. There will be no explanation.

Yes. Klei is the Hollow Knight. Once, one with so much potential and a clear goal. Now, bound and infected by an evil being that radiates and corrupts all that it touches in desperate need of cleansing.

They made farms slightly more awkward in exchange for creating one of the easiest methods of boss farming.

@Hungry French is right, they do not know their game enough. It's always been the way though - after removing several methods of cheese, they then added the Electric Fence. Now they've given us buzzards. Next year, after they nerf something pointless like item swapping, they'll give us the old bell or something. They don't have much understanding of how their additions effect the game, probably why they pushed buzzards straight to live branch - Don't think they could be bothered with the amount of threads and feedback that would have come off the back of that.

The game is a survival game at its core, so evironmental hazards are part of the gameplay and do not need any explanation as long as the game offers a way to protect yourself from it. Not all obstacles need rewards, your reward in a survival game is being alive. Surviving the dark/ cold does not give you a free weapon or whatsoever, they are just there, without any reason, to make it difficult for you to survive. The devs are kind enough to cater to different types of gamers een though this is a survival game. That's why the world is customizable. If you want to transform the game into a farming simulator, then turn off the hazards that you do not want, through the world ssettings. If you want it o be a base building game, or a boss rush RPG game, you can slso do so in the settings. Changing the settings does not make you a non-elite wussy, contrary to what other people would say. There is no "default" mode in DST. That's why you have multiple presets in the beginning.

1. Developers spend time building and maintaining a rather unpopular feature instead of improving the core experience
2. These updates are enabled by default, so most regular players especially new players won't bother turning them off
3. "You could turn it off if you don't like it" simply shifts the burden of decision making to the players. So players now have to spend extra time tweaking settings and comparing. And before they even disable it, they're forced to experience something they will dislike at least once

New Players won't be playing with Rifts, so it's weird to bring them up.

1. what core experience? core experience is survival for a survival game. Lunar mutations are a survival mechanic. My experience has been improved, so no idea what you are talking about.

2. Sounds like a laziness problem, not a gameplay problem. You are here deciding that all players do not like this feature, when in reality, I know a lot of players who do. So how should the devs know which players to please? They added the setting to be able to please both, which should be a win-win for everyone, but you are complaining that pressing a button for 10 seconds is too tedious for you to enjoy days worth of gameplay.

3. Who are they? We are not forced to experience something we dislike. We are enjoying the thing. If Klei did it the other way around, thenit will be us, who enjoy said content, who would be needing to tweak the settings. So why are you the one deciding that Klei should favor your preference over another group of players' preferences?

Your entire argument is that "The game sucks because I need to tweak the settings of a game that is meant to be customizeable, in order for the game to be as good as I want it to be, I don't care about how other players want to play the game." A "one default setting" is objectively worse as it will only cater to a very small specific set of players' playstyle. Klei did a good decision to make the game tweakable to each players' liking. Every thing you are complaining about can be removed if you don't want it. Only reason players won't tweak it is if you are too ashamed to not play on "default" settings, as an "elite" gamer. Also new players can see the gigantic "easy mode" in the very beginning of creating a world.

Honestly I can not speak for everyone but my own opinion is that too many people are simply settled into their long-term “Forever Worlds” because, for myself I am CONSTANTLY starting new worlds as an Xbox Player..

This is due to several reasons actually: #1 Personal Preferences of preferring to start & build a world using the character I started as without abusing Portal Swap. (if you switch to Wolfgang to fight bosses as Wes then your really not actually playing as Wes…)

#2- Klei’s Wonky and often times Broken Retro-Fitting of new content into Older worlds just makes me want to start new worlds so the content can generate the proper way it’s fully intended to.

Annnnnnndddd #3- Unfortunately Xbox version has been plagued with at least two different cases of bugs that caused world saves to be deleted.

With that said: I’ve started enough fresh start worlds to tell you that unlocking Rift content is done on a World by World Basis, AND there’s even a pretty little on-screen confirmation warning that “hey, this is the point of no return.. are you sure you want to do this?”

So if you want my personal opinion: You Opt’d yourself into these harder challenges that may or may not “break” your meta ways of gameplay, Farms will stop working, & this is going to be by intentional design.

No. Breaking farms is an accidental result by the developers. If they really wanted to break farms, they would simply have banned the destruction and movement of spawners...

Players enter a survival game and find themselves in a situation where they have to survive. Classic)

I’m sorry but I can not of sound mind ever possibly think that lunar moon rift content was not designed to break & disrupt existing farms when…. carrots turn into mutant rats and run away.

Build a farm is more surivive than duel with wave of fly zombies with no rewards.

Mike. This is Klei. They release something, and after a few years they say Oops...

Nope. To survive is to fight against inescapable natural threats. Build an automated farm that actually looks like a meat production plant...  This is automation, and this is a contradiction to survival...

You can't survive if you don't have to fight for life, for hunger, for resources. It's simple... A quiet life... I would even call it that... Quality Life. Hahaha... In fact, any QoL changes from Klei were a secret simplification of survival, to turn the game into a construction simulator rather than a brutal survival... So the Quality of Life update can be considered synonymous with the Relief of Survival update lol.

They drop glass if you just fight them. Maybe if they dropped infused glass?

They're amazing for farming unusual things and helping killing surface bosses.

But it's also not survive if you never trying to remove youself from them - try to not dying.

Rift brings players back to the starting, which is great, but it doesn't allow players to strive to help themselves survive make it run counter to survival to some extent.

Rift only creates new threats. But they don't cancel a million resources on the base. The concept of survival is to survive. In DST, survival very quickly turns into a refrigerator full of food, a million treatments, and an imbalance armor...

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.. but far too often I have seen development companies allow their fanbase or actually: New players who were not part of their fanbase to actually influence their games development sometimes for better, but most the time for the worst.

For example: there are Fortnite/CoD players flocking to Battlefield 6… and these people are on the games forums whining & complaining about there being “Tanks” in BF6’s Battle Royale Mode, or that the game doesn’t have “Killstreaks” these people… these voices, these Consumers who clearly are not there to experience a “Battlefield” Game- Should not EVER be allowed to influence the direction of the game &/or Franchises future. Anyone who actually plays Battlefield games will quickly tell you it isn’t a Battlefield game without the Tanks.

But I stand by my opinion: the very very first return of them update had us experience wacky moon magic that made the carrots we pull from the ground turn into rats and run away from us. So naturally of course: I fully expected when more Lunar activity began: More farm veggies and mobs would transform and change to make our lives more difficult.

Hamlet dlc which takes place in the skies above DS (and thus is naturally closer to the moons influence) has all sorts of weird stuff happening- From Spiders & Monkeys that Merged together (Spider-Ape) to Plant Life that comes to life & is hostile (Wormwood) okay so that parts a joke, there’s still the walking piranha plants though & the vines that smack you from the heavens. Then of course there’s the Elder Mandrakes which are mutant versions of the Mandrake plants we yank up out the ground..

My point is that: The more we mess with Lunar Stuff, the weirder & more unrecognizable the games world & mob behavior should become.

Honestly, this reply wins the forums.

Put together well enough for everyone to understand, no snarkiness just truth and honesty.

And I agree with it completely, every last bit of it~

People farm carrots with carrot seeds, on farm plots. Carrats never disrupted carrot farming. It was just a little "gotcha" if you were expecting edible carrots on the lunar island.

Is this actually real or just regular misinformation. If you farm carrots and there is a lunar rift do you have a chance for carrats?

Mike... There's no moon energy in DS... At all... During the full moon, the flowers turn into shadow flowers.
And the video from last summer clearly indicates that Hamlet is a different dimension. Lol, there was even a New Home and RoG...
