The only thing I don't like about Wicker is the bee book.

It's not thematic. Doesn't fit her.

The book makes you look like a webber but for bees.

It's cool and all, but she's not fit to be bee queen at home.

I think it fits well enough, not the first book she has that summons creatures(On Tentacles, Angler book, maybe birds of the world?)

Also the sound of bees and the fact there is no dismiss command makes them quite annoying, having to order them to kill each other one by one and then tracking down the running away last one is tedious.

Your description is very accurate. Apicultural Notes definitely has these problems.

I typically plan my actions for after I've read it, like going for a walk in the Marsh to let the Tentacles handle them.

There is also the issue that for some reason, ctrl-F will not remain locked on them, even if you clicked before hand, so you need to click precisely on the runaway while running towards it, for convenience I have to equig a magi... just to dismiss a bee. But yeah the total absence of a built-in reliable dismissal option means the bees are not something you bring out without a plan, and that's not even counting the fact you have to empty your entire sanity bar to even summon the limit.

DST is overall a cooperation game, taking the coop and interaction is always the last thing you want the dev to do.

Is like if they made warly food doesn't work on others, it comes across as a lazy fix to the players instead of looking closely why people dont stick to the character

I fail to see the "cooperation" in Wickerbottom crafting books and just leaving afterwards. Actual cooperation is when Wickerbottom reads Horticulture as her pal Maxwell's workers run harvesting. You can't co-op by yourself.

Imagine if they'd let anybody carry around and use Winona's devices once she builds them. Few people would play her just for Shadow Seeker skills when they've got the option to play Willow with catapults and teletransport. (Or, more pointedly, Maxwell with those.) It's rather obvious she'd still be a swap character, much like people swap to Wilson just to do some transmuting.

the cooperation here means, maxwell is able to read wicker book when shes unavailable to the team ( in caves or not near her bookshelf ) this happens a lot , is just an unfortunate fact that maxwell is able to use wicker book fully as she does so he can cover her role

winona's catapults are still available to everyone ( you only need to activate them) , her identity lies in her teleport pad and remote strikes , theres already some character have the ability to share stuff with others, so i dont see the issue ( walter tent, bernie, merm glasses,

Wicker is unavailable to the team because she vanished into the character change portal, forever.

Winona's catapults were made much more clumsy for other characters.

All the things you list that can be shared, have to be remade or repaired at some point by the character that shared those things. Wickerbottom's books don't have to be renewed, ever, because the bookcase renews the books automatically and infinitely.

The addition of bookcases are what made actually playing as Wickerbottom obsolete.

Notably, all of those are singular items and not entire characters' kits. Walter's tent is not a big part of his kit, Bernie cannot be used to his full potential by non Willow players, merm glasses are made to be used by others in the first place, and likewise do not give access to Wurt's whole kit. Also, all of those are available to all other players, and not a specific other character. So I don't think the comparison is quite fair.

Characters having items that can be used by others is cool! But that isn't Wickerbottom's case, as ALL of her items, which is what her entire character is about, can be used by another specific character, with barely any difference to effectiveness, and same end results.

The problem of only maxwell and wurt reading her books would be fixed if every character could read her books.

That isn't the problem. The issue in question would be fixed if Maxwell could only read her books with Wurt-level proficiency.

Or do you think the game would be improved if everyone could use slingshots and Woby, Wanda's clocks, etc.? Elding spear Wolfgang running around.

This, I think would actually be a good change.

maybe but not at their proficiency

I think Wicker's future skill tree should give her some more unique support skills that enable her to compete with Maxwell, instead of taking away the ability to read books from Maxwell. Maybe there could be some sort of Tier 2 Bookcase that crafts new books that only Wicker can use.

Another lack of polish I discovered when fighting this sin of game-design that is Fuelweaver: if you cast the web book to slow him down, the entire area where the web is disables the lazy explorer, you cannot rick-click anywhere on this area. Absolute genius.

The only thing that can save this character and make her actually worth playing is a single change.

Making Maxwell unable to read her books.

For as long as he can read her books, she will stay obsolete.

Or making Wicker be able to use the codex umbra.

Have you reported this one? This really just seems like a small oversight or bug.

Let me know if you want me to report this, because this sounds like an oversight.

I haven't tried somewhere else, but in the Atrium at least yes.

Seems like they fixed it. Unless it's for Wickerbottom specifically, but I don't think so. I was able to telepoof/right click while the webbing was there. What was the last time you tried doing this?
