Scaling flooring change is a bandaid on an amputation - not helpful, especially with the fact fire spread will still spread. Hound corpses, I can see that their bodies would naturally give off an insanity aura due to them being made of monster meat (fuel touched meat). Koalefant, no idea - weird choice. The characters don't care if they see a skeleton. Making certain corpses cause sanity drain leads to a variety of annoying inconsistencies. Characters will cause sanity drain on hound or koalaphant corpses, but not on skeletons. If skeleton causes sanity drain, WX-78 will mock it and cause sanity drain, but will mourn burned structure but not cause sanity drain. Wormwood loses sanity on the death of plants, but dead plants do not cause sanity drain. Such as Spiderhat for Webber and Merm Head for Wurt, similar so many issues occur simultaneously. droooney Posted August 6, 2025 Share Posted August 6, 2025 I don't know if it was suggested before by anyone, but already made a post about it a long time ago which now seems far more relevant I suggest we introduce some kind of device, similar to a lightning rod, that will attract moonstorms so that they don't happen everywhere on the map, but only in the designated area that you chose. This would make farming moonstorms far easier and it would nullify the threat of burning down anything in a random place at random time. lowercase skye Posted August 6, 2025 Share Posted August 6, 2025 (edited) I'm very confused by the confident assumption being made that this scaled flooring change was a direct response to moon gleams burning plant mobs, it does not even have anything to do with that and I don't think it would even prevent it from happening. There was a discussion here on the forums very recently about how unintuitive scaled flooring is, because it would previously just increase resistance to fire, meaning it just took slightly longer for things to catch on fire, rather than making things immune to fire like one would expect. This was almost definitely just a response to that, along with years of complaints about scaled flooring being kind of pointless. It did not prevent fire spread if you had enough fire sources to overpower the resistance, which doesn't happen often. It counted on the fires burning out before the objects could start smoldering, while giving a bit more time to respond to it. The change is an add-on that prevents fires on it from contributing to spread to prevent the above screenshot situation. Things on top of scaled flooring that receive fire propagation multiply the received values by 0, rather than fires on scaled flooring not propagating. Or would the fire from one simply not spread to the rest of the herd? This still doesn't solve the issue with moon gleams and grass gecko worlds. They can't expect us to turf entire biomes that inhabit wild grass geckos with scaled flooring in order to protect them from possible moonstorms landing on them and wiping entire herds out of existence, with no alternative to grass sources (no renewable geckos or grass tufts). So this doesn't even solve the problem with lureplant farms and grass geckos. If a moon gleam flies and lingers over the area, it will just proceed to zap different entities because of its erratic movement and consistent attack output. So while one entity won't spread fire to another, they will still eventually ignite individually and burn anyway. Klei, this is unacceptable, there should be a setting to disable fire ignition from electric damage in the settings, period. Or just reconsider the whole mechanic all together.
