klei said theyd finish up from beyond in september

id assume the current beta update (hostile takeover part 2) is going to be released in early august or around the end of july

so like..... where are they going to fit the last update of this arc in if it took them to finish everything which was promised in hostile takeover? mind you, with some things still missing

it would have to be MASSIVE because id assume its going to be a shadow update because well.. hostile takeover concluded the lunar arc.. which was highly unsatisfying for me, but thats another topic entirely.

so, how is this going to be pulled off if at all without any MAJOR delays?

Like every other time, they won't.

Nevermind, you’re good. I replied to this certified crashout who was leaving paragraphs under your post. I quoted the replies and she deleted them at the same time. I was mistaken, I guess my posts didn’t register due to this

So uhhh here’s a thought- “Return of Them” ended suddenly, unexpectedly and with a disappointing Conclusion.

“From Beyond” Will end up being the same way..

In fact I have no faith in Klei at all anymore to deliver the size and quality updates/content fans have waited literally over a decade for.

But with all this negative thought I figure I’ll end my post on a bright note: the upside is that just because “From Beyond” ends, doesn’t mean they won’t continue to add some new silly arc beyond that, and maybe if we’re lucky: Go back and fine tune and rework, tweak etc areas of the game they feel could use updating?

At least Return of Them concisely wrapped things up on a big fight with a guardian sent down by Them (but not that Them, a different, lunar Them).

Meanwhile there's like, an update and a half left in this arc. Are they gonna finish off with the end of the shadow rift and just... not do the rest of the skill trees? Or are skill trees gonna spill over into the next arc?

Skill Trees are Unrelated to the story Arch (aside from the affinity BS)

I also could see FB concluding on Hostile Takeover Part 2, and the Shadows finale would be part of the next story arc.

But yeah, I doubt we will get it all wraped up before the end of September. We would have HToP2 going beta, HToP2 going live, Shadows Finale going beta, Shadows Finale going live. I think it will be delayed. Honestly I don't mind it, I would rather them finish up HToP2 with all the things the wanted, and wrap up lunar before rushing the end of shadow; the anouncement of ending FB in September allways felt crazy to me, the rifts just started to ger fleshed out, and now it feels like they end prematurelly - And what about the sealed portal in the archives, is that gonna be explained?! (This is just like RoT and the ocean frankly, the ocean has so much potential but is hevilly underutalized, atleast Staying Afloat made son QoL to it maybe we get similar things in the future for rifts and stuff)

Hopefully it doesn't get forced to end by September, as the shadow side feels like its severely lacking in content. You have shadow rifts (which I rarely see anyone visit since the shadelings are obnoxious to fight and kill and only drop pure horror), shadow outcrops (which are fine honestly), and possessed chests and shadow atriums. Meanwhile lunar has 4 boss mobs alongside an update to scrappy werepig. I'd really like for shadow rifts to have dreadstone boulders similarly to pure brilliance boulders.

I think that Klei has always said that the dates are estimated and not guaranteed nor a promise. I don't have a problem at all if the updates have to be delayed because there are things they have to work on. I would rather have a good-but-slower update than bad-but-faster update.

They use to push out an update once per month, now they’re pushing out an update once every 4 months or more, and that’s not even taking into account any additional time the update has to spend going through Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo Certification Processes.

Its time to face facts guys: DST is slowing development, support for the game is dying down, soon it’ll be time to move on.

I agree, the dates are estimates and better have a cooked update than a half-unfinish undewhelming ending. I only ask fot one thing - Please Klei, keep the promise of providing a roadmap in September! <3

Its allways comforting to have some guidance of what you expect to do & add into the game, and for players to keep their own espectations grounded. We are happy to hear your thoughs and perspectives on the past & future of the game. ^_^

A game which is slowing development and dying down does not get consistent merch, updates, and new developers. It is okay to simply lose interest.

I don't think you can expect any big development plot-wise when there's the parallel between Charlie capturing AFW and Scion capturing Wagstaff.

(unless they do a reprise because the parallel of Charlie capturing AFW is to Wagstaff capturing CC so Scion capturing Wagstaff will be to AFW's rift form capturing Charlie)

Are there any other proof than this? Because I think the player count has become larger than when I started playing this game 8 years ago. 1 update per month might be too much for the developers (stresses & health issue?). That might be why they change it to 4 instead.

Frankly it doesn't scare me this. It's about time. Sure I would like reworks and reworks and reworks and tunes for balancing a tons of things in the game, but it's better to end it, then making the pot larger than it is.

An awful ending tho, to finish with the bad mechanics of Rifts.

Regarding the DST slowing down development - I would like to include a friendly reminder that one of the reasons we might feel this way now, is because this year's development cycle has been hevelly slowed down by the Walter, Wendy & Wortox skill tree spotlight - It was suposed to come out for winter feast last year, but the beta was delayed and the release was only late February. Klei had a to go with caution with how to aproach Wendy (one of the most played characters in the game), and they gave Walter a 180 in the middle of the update - all neat stuff; but although they did say they hoped this late release would not interfear with other updates this year, clearly it created some delays. This might give the feeling that there were less updates so far this year, compared to last year.

Yes they changed the update cicle and slowed down, but they did it quite a while from now; the game is not dying down. There is still 7 (+1 = wonky?) characters without a skill tree, that is 38.8% of the cast! Klei started with Wilson in early 2023, so there is still an entire year (or two) to get trough the skill trees; I am sure there is going to be updates, if at least QoL in betwee . Yes, perhaps to some people skill tree updates are not as exciting, and they don't feel like it adds much to the game compare to content updates; I get their frustrations, but over all it seems like people enjoy them as Klei is on round 3 of reworks (counting from the original DS starnge powers update) - if they keep doing it it must mean its what people engage mostly.

I am certain that after FB there is going to be another arc, and all of us fans of the game will still be talking about them in these Forums ;)
