GluttonyMain
Theres already many soruces o lime (pacus, amber (through fossil), pokeshells), but not rust. Jawbo could renewably run rust deoxidizer for oxygen, which wasnt possible before (other than i guess space minning, but thats super late game) 5 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166142-prehistoric-dlc-why-change-jawbo-loot-into-rust/#findComment-1819737 Share on other sites
asurendra
You dont need Jawbo to get lime. Pacus will provide more than you can ever use. And Jawbo requires fully functional pacu ranch. So... Why you ever need Jawbo? They was totally useless. A lot of people asked for this change. It makes Jawbo more than just-big-pacu. Also this is first renewable source of rust in entire game. Now we can make sustainable oxygen generation without electrolyzer. Alternative routes is always good, and lyzers was only real option since ONI released. gigamoi
In addition to what other said, it synergize well with other critters and plants of the pack as they are quite salt and chlorine oriented. 4 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166142-prehistoric-dlc-why-change-jawbo-loot-into-rust/#findComment-1819741 Share on other sites

Because Lime is boring while the rust give us a new setup to produce Oxygen on the Jurassic Planet. 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166142-prehistoric-dlc-why-change-jawbo-loot-into-rust/#findComment-1819793 Share on other sites
Paperbag
18 hours ago, yvvt0379 said: Is Rust really more useful compared to Lime? It's not that Rust is better than lime, it's that producing Lime makes Jawbo basically entirely 100% pointless and worthless. Jawbo require Pacu, which are already an amazing source of Eggshell for Lime. Just adding more Lime to the chain is: 1. Boring, and a waste of Jawbo's potential. It essentially becomes "Pacu but bigger", when it could produce something more interesting. 2. Redundant. Pacu already are amazing for lime. The Jawbo adding more onto that was basically a waste when a decent sized amount of Pacu could get you all the Lime you'd ever need, so you'd be building a Jawbo Ranch, which may I remind you, produces an inferior meat to Pacu, for no real reason other than to get more Lime that you don't need. Adding Rust onto the chain however, is much more interesting because: 1. Rust is now renewable. Which means Iron is now renewable. Which means you can have infinite steel production to use your infinite Lime production for. 2. It gives the Rust Deoxidiser a viable use. Rust being previously nonrenewable meant it was basically never worth using to oxygenate your base since it would only ever be a short term solution. Now, it can be an alternative to the Electrolyser in lategame colonies if someone wants to use Jawbo to oxygenate their base. 3. By proxy, it makes Dasha Saltvine more useful, because the Rust Deoxidiser needs Salt, and it's one of the few ways to get Salt. 4. It just fits the theme. This pack has a lot of chlorine-related stuff for whatever reason, this just adds on to that by letting Chlorine producing Rust Deoxidisers have a use, and Chlorine-eating Dasha Saltvines be more useful. 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166142-prehistoric-dlc-why-change-jawbo-loot-into-rust/#findComment-1819890 Share on other sites
Electroely
One of my favorite aspects of the Rust change (I'm still in the process of trying it out) is that we have a critter that can sustainably feed Plug Slugs without metal volcanoes or space debris fields. A well fed Jawbo can keep one plug slug well fed, two of which can feed one Rhex with meat (with a little leftover), so you get power, water, salt, chlorine, oxygen & feather fiber which have useful applications throughout the game, especially on the swampy Spaced Out asteroids that lack reed fiber or renewable water sources. I think for their size (and to match Rhexes as a carnivorous critter) it would be cool if they had bonus Rust production for eating live Pacu. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166142-prehistoric-dlc-why-change-jawbo-loot-into-rust/#findComment-1819910 Share on other sites
speckle21
Seriously, with renewable rust i might attempt a "No geyser" ultimate colony challenge in the future. Its amazing! 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/166142-prehistoric-dlc-why-change-jawbo-loot-into-rust/#findComment-1819912 Share on other sites
